I have a Goodman AC unit. Recently my dog chewed the 18 awg wire ( red & white ) coming from the furnace to the unit in the yard. In the furnace the Y & C are the only two available places to re-connect the wires too. When I re-connect the wires ( w to y & r to c or vise versa) and put the panel back on the blower kicks in automatically while the thermostat is in the off position. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like nothing. Is your fan on switch on the t-stat? Is it set to the off position? Some units have a 1 min 30 fan on period when power is restored.

The t-stat is in the off position. The blower kicks in when I put the panel back onto the furnace and it stays on. The blower will not shut off unless I shut it down at the furnace.

No wire is touching the g terminal is it? You may have a bad control board.

No nothing is touching the G terminal only the a green wire that's connected to it.

Take the red wire off the r terminal at the control board and try it see if the fan runs, this will elimnate the t-stat

I removed the red wire from the r terminal and the blower fired up when I put the panel back on the furnace

Sounds like the fan relay on the control board is stuck, or one of your limits or role out switches is out on you furnace, check them first.

I'm not a technician. Where do I find the fan relay on the control board and how would I know if the roll out switch is stuck?

See the red buttons on the roll outs press them in and you will hear click if they are out. There could be as many as 5 on your furnace. Look to the left and right of the burners

I looked to the left and right and saw no red buttons. I also noticed that the red led light was solid it wasn't flashing.

What does it say for a solid red light on the back of your bottom door?

Normal operations

Have you blown the 3 amp automotive type push-in fuse that is in the circuit board?
While messing with the 24 volt wiring the fuse is easy to blow, and on a goodman furnace for some reason the blower will run all the time with the low-voltage fuse blown
