Securing 6-3 w/g NM / knockouts on electrical boxes
OK, a few questions: (I did not want to start separate threads. Maybe I should have?)

Q1: What is/are the proper method(s) for securing larger NM such as 6-3 with ground? Do they make staples for this?

(OK, so that was 2 questions.. )

Q2: I am using Carlon Super Blue boxes (residential.) The single gang boxes do not have the "tab" that secures the wire. Instead it has a little square held on by 2 spots. Am I supposed to turn this and push the wire in, or am I to knock this out? Also, if I knock out the wrong one, what is a legal way to cover that hole to satisfy NEC 110.12(A)?

    Thanks in advance.

Support NM cable 12 inches from each box or fitting, and then no more than every 4.5 ft.

    Yes, see:

Find you box here and install per instructions:
    Carlon Electrical Products

I think you have this one:

Yes, twist out the knockout. I do not think they make a knockout blank for these, so be careful, try not to have to many unused openings. No inspector ever had an issue with a unused KO with these, that I know of.
Probably because the openings are so small. Try to avoid any as there is no approved method of closing them.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you!

The PDF from Carlon (horrible install guide if you ask me. LOL!) shows the box details in the second row, 3rd from the left. It says knockout, so I will go with you on that. (Good thing because I did knock them out. LOL!)

As for the staples, I do see on that site they have a 1-3/8" long 13/16" wide that is rated for the 6-3. The ones I have are not long enough and just pull out. Off to the supply house for me.

    Thanks again!
