    Butter/Corn Syrup Substitutes
What is a good substitute for butter in baking? Do you think soya oil or shortening might work? And also what might be a good substitute for corn syrup? Maybe a little maple syrup would be OK? I want to make butterscotch brownies. Please tell me if these solutions are crazy haha.

    Actually butter is healthier

Soy has a lot of health problems associated with it

And shortening is a hydrogenated fat which causes bad cholestrol.

Pure maple syrup might be okay but I am sure it would alter the flavor so I wouldn't use it in just any recipe.
Most syrups are corn syrup unless they say Pure Maple syrup.

I think the 100% natural fermented organic soy is okay but I think that the majority of soy is not good.
