It misfires under load buthe misfiring is erratic idles relatively smoothly. The misfires are erratic but not extremely severe and the previous owner suggested carby (as I can see slight weepage) BUT it smacks more of vacuum leaks if not coil or condenser breakdown but don't know how to test for either of these (if it is in fact either of them)

Sadly, I didn't even know they had such a thing on a Carby model. Shows how old I really am.

If you have points and condenser, instead, I would replace them, along with the coil. Afterwards, check the dwell angle of the points and set the timing with a strobe light.

I would also install new NGK spark plugs, if they haven't been replaced in the last 2 years or 24,000 miles.
