Stink from a leaky vent pipe
I am redoing my kitchen and when I tried to take the sink out the vent pipe literally came apart, as though it was not even attached. There was a terrible smell in the kitchen and we thought it was the cabinets. We took out the cabinets, and they did smell, we also took out the walls. When I lifted the tile from the floor the smell got worse. We called in a plumber and he said that it didn't smell like sewer, it smelled like wet dog. I don't know what that could be from.
I bought Odor-xit and will try spraying the entire kitchen. I have to say the subfloor still smells but I'm not sure if it is from the original leaky vent pipe or not. The break in the pipe was under the subfloor, so it's possible the smell got into the wood. I'm going crazy without a kitchen but afraid to close the walls until I find the source of odor. Unfortunately the Odor-xit box says it doesn't get rid of wet dog smell. Any suggestions.
