    Basement Toilet
I am finishing the roughed in bathroom in my basement and the riser for the toilet was placed at 16 inches from the studs when the builder did the rough in. I understand that the riser should be 12" from the finished wall.

I believe my only options are:

    1) Build the wall out 3.5 inches or

    2) Break out the slab and reposition the roughed in plumbing.

I'm just wondering if there are any other options available.

    Thanks

You could buy a 14 inch toilet. But that will still leave you 1 1/2 from finished wall. If you can live with this, then I would say its your best option. If you want the toilet to set closer to the wall, then furring the wall out is your next best bet. I would do this before breaking concrete and moving drain. Keep in mind, 14" rough toilets are a bit pricey, so if you are going to furr the wall, i would stick with a 12" toilet and furr the wall with 2x4s.

Just my personal opinion>>> I would get a 14 toilet and live with the gap between tank and wall.

Please let us know what you decide.

If flange is not installed yet, you may be able to use an offset flange also. This would require chipping some concrete, but not much. You would also have to have enough vertical pipe between floor and closet bend.

    Hi all:

I would chip out a bit of the concrete and install an offset flange (see picture) in this case. The offset flange will set the flange back between 1.5" to 2"... depending on the offset flange purchased (obviously the 2" is best here). Then, purchase a 14" rough-in toilet as presented by Mygirlsdad77 and you should be all set here... ;)
