What material can I use on an interior basement wall?
I have a 50+ home, and half of a finished basement. The foundation was poured using floor board back then, so there's horizontal lines in the walls. (During the depression I am told) Some aren't too bad, some are very noticeable. To save money we originally sponged painted over them to hide the imperfections, and used studs and sheet rock to finish the remaining basement walls. We are re-doing it again, and still want to keep the two cement walls to keep cost down. Can I stucco over them, or plaster, Venetian plaster? Putting up sheet rock will mess up the drop ceiling and be a lot of work. I am sick of the sponge painting, I don't mind having texture, just more unified. Also there are two small high basement windows that were covered up after an addition. The cynderblocks they used are flush with outside, but not inside. It is an obvious hole, and obvious that it was windows at some point. How can I fill in that void? Wire, cement, bricks?
Thank you in advance for help.
