Did you boyfriend provide more than 50% of the child's support? If so, then he had a right to claim him. So you need to figure out how much the child lived with you and how much your boyfriend contributed to his support.

Its unlikley you will go to jail, but if its determined he wasn't entitled to claim the child, then an amended return will need to be filed and any difference paid back.

Is there a custody order on the child?

You knew there was a conflict and you apparently already believe they had more right to file because you are talking about the fact that the money is already gone?
