I have a Frigidaire electric dryer (FDEB34RGS1). Last night we started a load of clothes and went to bed. When we got up this morning the dryer was still running but was stone cold. The timer had stuck a few minutes into the cycle. Now, the dryer will run but there is no heat. Also,the timer now moves around appropriately.

I checked the house fuses and they are fine.

Anybody have an Idea of what the problem might be? I have the whole thing disassembled (it needed a good cleaning anyway) and I'm trying to figure out how to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make certain the vent is unobstructed from beginning to end.

Possible heater element. Check this page for parts for your unit.

Naturally you should test the parts or have a physical confirmation that the heat element is broken.

There were no obstructions to air flow and the heating element seems intact.

Then trace the voltage back through all controls and find where the 220/240 volts is stopped at.

Tdetde_ If you have a VOLT-OHM meter- Ican lead you threw the testing of all items that need to be tested to find which one is the trouble. Just looking at the heating element you can not really tell,if its bad or good :: more then likely it will end up being the element:: LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ME TO DO THIS:: ONE THING YOU CAN DO IS TO REMOVE THE ELEMENT AND TAKE IT TO A APPLIAMCE REPAIRMAN AND HAVE HIM TO CHECK IT OUT FOR YOU <AT THE SAME TIME TAKE THE HEAT PROTECTORS WITH YOU TO BE CHECKED ALSO :: GOOD LUCK AND LET US ALL KNOW HOW YOU COME OUT :F.B.E.

Thanks for the offer to walk me through the tests. I bought a multimeter yesterday and checked the element, thermal limiter and high limit thermostat for continuity (I disconnected each one first) and they all showed continuity. I was going to check the timer next. Does that seem logical?

tdetde-YOU will need to check the timer ,thermostat, and the START SWITCH also, )( TO TEST the timer ,disconnect one of the leads and clip meter probs to the terminals and ,TURN THE TIMER TO (NORMAL DRY) IF METER READS ( ZERO ) OHMS IT IS OK <IF IT READS HIGH IT IS DEFECTIVE- REPLACE:: TO TEST THE THERMOSTAT- DISCONNECT BOTH LEADS TO IT AND CLIP THE METER PROBS TO THE TERMINALS<TURN THERMOSTAT TO ANY SETTING EXCEPT FLUFF DRY <IF METER READS ( ZERO) IT IS OK IF IT READS HIGH <IT IS FAULTY - REPLACE ::TO TEST START SWITCH} DISCONNECT heavy wires to it <clip meter probs to the terminals ,press the switch button ,if meter reads (ZERO 0 ohms it is OK if it reads high it is defective; replaceREPLACE ALL WIRES YOU TOOK LOOSE:: Ihope this has helped you out, and the dryer is now working, IF I CAN BE OF ANY MORE <JUST HOLLER :GOOD DAY AND GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.
