    SHower Diverter covering removal
I have an older home and I believe the original shower/Tub and taps. I need to replace the shower diverter which is in the wall - PULL for shower PUSH for spout. The thing is I cannot figure out how ot get into it. The crome ring on the outside just spins and apears to have not opening. The button in the middle comes off (unscrews) but the appears to be no place on the stem or beside it to lossen anything off. Any ideas? Rabby.

Can you see a brand name or logo anywhere, is sure doesn't look like a Moen.

The face plate behind the knob should turn out counterclockwise. There should be a retaining nut behind that. Good luck, Tom

I have tried turning the outer ring counter clockwise, but it just turns never loosens. I have looked for any little hidden screw or tension release point, but found none. I can't find any brand name - but yes it's probably not moen. Anyway if you can think of anything else please do - I'll keep looking at it but nothing turns up then I'm going to have to replace the whole thing I suppose, which right now would really bite. Cheers.Rab

When you get the button in the middle of the push / pull stem out did you not see a screw or a hex head bolt that might unscrew?
Also have you tried to slip a thin knife blade under the escutcheon ( The ring against the wall.) and against the tile on both sides at a 180 degree angle, then try to pull the escutcheon forward, slipping it along a little at a time. Not sure this is the way to get into it but worth a try.
    Hope it helps.

If the outer ring's threaded then your turning it the wrong way. Clockwise will tighten it. Turn it out counterclockwise. Good luck, Tom
