    Wrong furnace location
    Hello,

I wonder if there is any limit (or standards?) in diffrence between basement and first floor temperature. My basement is 3 degree Celsius warmer than first floor due to very long heating line from one basement corner to another. It is 1 year old home with furnace installed in a wrong place (the most remote location from everywhere and builder claims it complies with building code) and I am trying to compel builder to reinstall home heating correctly.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Sergey.

You will have to research YOUR local codes. They change from area to area. The only place you cannot install a furnace is under the steps going upstairs and that code could be nonexistant anymore since the units are high efficiency or heap pump electric heat.Very little risk of fire.

BTW the basement is NOT required to be heated by code. Only finished living area.
