    Parental rights
My daughter had a son in June, 2007. The father has not seen the baby or given an money to her since October 3, 2007. He did talk to my daughter about 2 weeks before Christmas and left 3 presents at the door for my grandson but did not see them. Can she do anything to have his parental rights taken away since it has been over a year since he saw the baby or gave any money to her?

Why don't your daughter file for child support? The courts can't force him to spend time with the child but they can enforce support and the child is owed that whether if the father wants to pay.

Also, here is something you should read about terminating a parent rights. It was posted on the legal board.

You can also talk to the courts about getting him for abandonment. I am not sure how it works but I know if one parent has been out of the child's life for so long then you can get them for abandonment.
