CB trips, seeing a spark when trying to reset
Hey all. I am having an odd issue.

I woke up today to no power in my bedroom, and the roommate had nothing outside of his TV working. The other roommate has 2 outlets that work. I have temporarily set up some stuff on an extension cord to just get online, etc. (will be pulled tomorrow).

Now, when I checked the fuse box, 2 of the breakers had tripped. One I switched back on, no problem. The other one? Nothing doing. I have left it off for a bit and re-tried, but still nothing. The apartment complex's maintenance guy came over, and I guess simply switched it on, and when I came home, I had power. For about an hour and a half.

Now, when I try to switch it on, I see that it will spark up. I am a bit fearful to try again. This is after I bought a new CB and replaced it, too. So it's something internal, I suppose? Or should there be a higher # CB in there?

Right now I have: Murray / Crouse Hinds Breaker MP115

Would I need something with more power to avoid what is happening?

No, you need to have your maintenance man tell you how much amperage is fed to your apartment.

Then you say to the fellow, get an electrician out here because I have seen the panel sparking.

Only qualified electricians are allowed to work on apartment homes and condos main panel systems.

I agree! You should NOT be MESSING with this!!

Call the LL, NOT the maintenance guy, and get a REAL electrician over to see where the short circuit is.
