Stuck Tub Spout - How to apply Penetrant
    Hi Everyone,

I changed my shower's old seats, stems and faucet handles with new Price Pfister parts and it works great. I tried removing and replacing the tub spout with a Price Pfister version from Danco. The diverter handle/lever is located near the rear of the spout. It is the first photo graphic in message no. 7 in this thread, https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/plumbi...out-23158.html.

I have tried pipe wrenches and brute force to remove the old tub spout, which is the screw-on version that does not have a set screw. It will not budge and I don't want to risk damaging the pipe behind the wall.

I think I need to add some Penetrant to the threads since the house is 40 years old. How would I do this since the threads are near the back of the spout?

Do I need to drill a hole at the top of the old spout so I can drop the Penetrant into the threads? Please share your ideas. Thanks in advance for your comments. :)

I would use a propane torch to heat the spout rather than try oil.
