Where exactly does the PCV valve go in a ford f-150. Something was clogging the old one up, and the guy at auto zone said this is what the problem was. It's the holiday weekend and I can't get in to see anyone to replace this for me. It seems simple enough, but I can't find this valve. Thanks for any help.

Not exactly sure where it's located on your truck, especially since I don't know what engine you have. Try following each hose from the throttle body or plenum--one of those will lead to the PCV Valve.

In the future, use full-synthetic engine oil; e.g. Mobil 1. Synthetics have much lower NOACK volitility ratings that conventional oil. What this means, in your situation, is that the light, smaller oil molecules will not evaporate as much, under heat, and clog your PCV Valve and other pollution control systems. Change it every 6 months or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Your PCV should be mounted into the left bank valve cover at the end of a thick hose.

I actually don't think the valve is messed up! It's the rubber boot that connects the thick hose to the motor. There is a hissing sound and when I put my finger over the hole on the rubber boot then the truck will start sounding right and idles right. My question now is how do I get that rubber boot off. I've messed with is and I can't figer it out. My truck is a 2003 Ford F-150 4.6 V8. Thanks for any help
