    Basement Rough-ins
I have a house that is 14 years old and it has rough in plumbing in the basement. One for the toilet and one for the shower. Also a stand pipe next to a wall which I assume is the vent. Does the rough in plumbing have the traps below the concrete flooring?

    Hey Robert,

You have correctly identified all the pipes except one. The stand pipe next to a wall is a lavatory raiser. You will install a drainage tee 18" off the floor to the center of the tee on the raiser and stubout to pick up the lavatory. You will then come off the top of the tee to the roof to vent your bathroom group. The shower will be wet vented by the lavatory vent and yes it has a trap under the floor. The only trap you'll have to install will be a trap for the lavatory. Good luck, tom

I think I understand all of your comments and they are appreciated. However, I am confused with the following "You will then come off the top of the tee to the roof to vent your bathroom group"

    What is this?

He means that the "standpipe" can't just end in the middle of nowhere, and vent noxious gasses into the room; rather, the top part of the tee must also have a pipe atached to it going vertically - this one going straight up and [ultimately] out the roof (or later revented into a different vent stack).

    Hope this helps,
    Moishe
