I've read what to do for a regular dryer and replacing the bearing but is it the same for a stacking unit with the dryer on top?

I would be fairly certain that the basic design of the stacking dryer is the same as a conventional dryer.
Hope this helps.

Note: there are two screws in the front of the stacking unit covered by plastic tabs, before following appleguys awesome instructions, remove the plastic covers, remove two screws and that unit comes right off no problem!!
