There's no way to tell. He could be let out tomorrow or he could finish his sentence in there.

He may have to do the 2 years minus the 7 months, plus time off for good behavior. He is at the mercy of the court and his probation officer. I would have him ask his PO to put him in a drug treatment program in lieu of jail. One where he goes a couple times a week.

Yep, EIFS has it nailed. He can be held for a while pending a probation hearing before the judge. As noted he can be made to serve the rest of his sentence.
