Hi All,

1) In my previous question (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/heatin...ld-155440.html) I received help on trouble shooting my furnace problems and found a bad inducer motor to be the culprit (Thanks!).

2) After replacing the motor today, I'm finding the burners won't ingite at all.

3) The inducer motor is running great and the pilot is lit just fine... I think

4) Point of interest: I'm noticing that the pilot light does not seem to be hitting the same area it hit before I changed out the motor, though I have made sure the pilot orafice is clean and clear.

Q: Is the difference in the pilot light I notice because before, I didn't really have the inducer motor running very well to notice an effect on the pilot?

Q: Does the inducer motor affect the pilot flame?

Q: Why won't the main gas burners kick in?

First if you opened up the pilot orifice with a wire gauge you might have made the orifice to big try a new orifice also you might have a bad bi-metal pilot assembly which comes with a new orifice. Do you hear any clicks or clunks from the firing valve after the pilots been lit for about minute ?

Thanks for your reply hixton. The wire went through the orafice quite easily and is much softer than the orafice material, so I'm pretty sure no damage was done to the orafice. Also, when I was able to get the old motor working for a few hours longer, the pilot and main burner had no problems. Also, no clicks. I know what you are talking about, but all seems fine... really consistent pilot flame.. weird.

Brand of furnace and model number? If the inducer fan is having a effect on the pilot you may have larger problems than you think. A defective heat exchanger is a possibality. Pleas provide model and brand.

My furnace is a Carrier 58DH060-CC (Made in the 80's). The inducer motor seems to stay on all the time, as does the pilot. Every once in a while the burners will kick in and work, then either stay on for several minutes or only 5 seconds. Not liking the sound of having something bigger wrong 'gulp'.

Ah ha! I just learned how to adujst the pilot flame and now everything works great... well, I won't get excited too quick since my success was short lived last time. I just gave it a little more gas, so to speak. Finding the service manual online at http://www.carrier-commercial.com under "Literature > Maintenance" was VERY helpful for reading how everything should work and how to troubleshoot my particular furnace.
