Why did the rug explode? Did it have oil of some type? If so, you probably can't use that washer anymore, it may cause an explosion if the oil got anywhere inside, and you can't get at all the crevices. I'm no expert though, but that's the safest advice I can give, is don't use the washer anymore until you definitely know it's clean and safe.
The rug came apart into many pieces. It is all over the drum and possibly the drain.
Thanks
Did it just get shredded or did it like, EXPLODE?
I's say use a wet/dry vac or wait until the pieces dry (use a fan) and use a regular vac to remove them.
Add some water like you would normally do clothes, but stop the timer and move it to the spin cycle and pump it out. If there appears to be no problems, do a shallow load of nothing.
Put a screen in the tub to collect the debris. Add water and pump it out until the discharge is clear of debris.
