As per my post in the Hot Tub forum (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/pools-...d-148047.html), I am working on installing a spa.

I have already purchased 6 gauge THHN for the 130' run, but I'm beginning to second guess myself on whether that will be enough to handle this distance without a voltage drop. The tub itself is a Dimension One Chairman II.

Also, does the THHN need to be run in conduit inside also?

Last, do I need to run the ground the whole way, or can I use a grounding rod? Either way, does it have to be the same 6 gauge?

Oh, you need to post the amps or watts it will draw.

From what I understand from the manual, there are three operating modes... 24 Amps, 32 Amps, and 38 Amps. If I remember correctly, the sticker on the inside of the control panel says 32 amps of continuous power? It was hooked up before with about a 75 foot run the disconnect with 6 gauge, and a 15 foot run to the tub with 8 gauge... (not that that means it was right)

Stick with the #6 for this run.

All THHN must be in some sort of conduit, there are many choices from stick to flexible. And the entire run must be complete with all fittings, boxes, and supprot straps.

The equipment ground can be min of #10, better if it was #8.

Do not use a ground rod at the tub. Be sure to to ground all metal surrounding the tub, and an green screw in the tub controller.

Thanks for the advice. I just realized that I already bought the Black, White, and Green in #6 already... I don't want to mess around with the colors, so I guess I will just buy the red in 6 gauge also and not switch anything around. Hopefully my 1" PVC conduit will take nicely to four #6 wires.
