94 honda accord stops while driving
I own a 94 honda accord and it has been sitting for a while because it would not start. So I replaced the main relay and it did start and even ran for a while, but has now started stopping again and is doing so on the highway and at stop lights. Just anywhere it feels like it. I have heard so many different solutions and do not know what to try next. I put a brand new relay in it again from the dealership this time and it still didn't start until I let it sit for about 4 hours. I do smell gas when I am continually cranking it over. Anyone know what it could be

This is a common ignition switch issue but look at the ignition troubleshooting in the FAQ section up top of the forum. You need to confirm spark too.

My gut is that it has to do with the distributor. Because of the age of the Accord, I would replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil. If you want to save the money, AutoZone can test these two components for free. Very few Honda ignition switches go bad. Most electrical problems in Hondas can be traced to the ICM, coil, main relay, distributor housing (failed CYL, CKP, and TDC sensors), and ECM.

I have had the same weird problems with my honda accord aerodeck 1996, 2-litre 110,000 miles, it started by cutting out and starting staight away. Then it got progressively worse, cutting out and taking up to 25minutes to restart. The garage has changed the ignition switch, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, swapped over the distributer from another car and still the problems got worse, all that it left now is the ECU unit, Honda tested it and said it was the distributer/coil but we swapped it from another car and got the same problem. I spoke to ECUdoctor and they said that the ECU on this car is very reliable and would not cause this type of problem, can anyone help?before I scrap the car?!
