    Converting ceiling fan to chandelier
I have a ceiling fan in my dining room and want to convert it to a chandelier with a dimmer. I would normally be comfortable doing this but the fan and lights are controlled by two swathes. I looked at the wiring and saw that 2 black wires and one red wire are connected to the switches (it is the style with one switch above the other). How do I do this?

If I was doing this, I would use my meter to find out which wires were controlled by which switch, and use those wire and cap the other ones off.

The fan will have two hot wires going to it, usually a black and a red. Pick one, and cap off the other. At the switch end, use the same wire to connect to the dimmer, along with the hot wire. Cap off the unused wire.

Why would you want to remove a ceiling fan, anyway? :)
