GE Washer won't complete spin cycle
I bought my washer used. It works fine, until it gets to the spin cycle. It starts to drain, and after a few minutes it will begin to spin and stops. However, if it has no clothes in the tub, it will complete the spin cycle. Once in a while, it will complete the cycle with clothes in it, but it is very rare. I opened up the front panel and there were no oil leaks. The belt looks new and is tight. The inside is very clean. What could I do to fix it or will I have to take it in to be repaired?

You are sure the belt is good? If so,the basket is attached directly to the transmission, which itself spins during the spin cycle. The retaining nut could be loose. You would have to remove the agitator and basket to verify this. To me GE/Hotpoint are the most aggrivating to service. If you are handy and have patience, you should be able to repai ryourself
