    Craftsman Lawn Tractor Oil Filter
    Hello,
I have just replaced the oil in my Kohler engine on a Craftsman gt5000. It was at that point I noticed some seepage from the oil filter can (52-050-02). I haven't changed the filter before and am wondering if it can be replaced while oil is in the engine or do I have to drain it again.
    Please advise, thank you.

You can replace the filter with the engine off but you will lose about 1/2 quart of oil at the worst. When installing the new filter wipe the seat on the engine with a clean rag and also oil the filter gasket with a few drops of oil/ Do not use a filter removal tool to install, hand tighten only but firmly.

Ballengerb1 Is Right On The Money. That Should Fix The Problem. And Might I Add, Change You Oil Filter Every time You Change Your Oil.

Thank you both for your response. While I should have considered this before, it will be better than having to drain the engine again.
