A reply was posted to check the gfi receptacle, where is it at?
First - in the future please post follow-up questions to previous posts in the same thread - it's confusing if you start a new conversation by referring to an old post.
Second - there may not necessarily be a GFI at all - it's just that if there is, and the porch light is wired to the load side of it, that may explain the problem. In new construction you will typically find a GFI outlet outside near both the front and rear doors of the house. If you have a GFI, check to see if it has tripped. If there is a regular outlet out there without a GFI, try plugging something into it to see if it works or not.
One other suggestion - have you checked the circuit breakers?
Finally - when was the last time you know the porch light worked? Has there been any electrical work in the interim?
Sorry about the thread thing, I'm new to this,
I will check the circuit breakers, it is new construction...
The porch light worked 5 days ago.
I had the air conditioner serviced, the "panel" and motor went out
I checked what I think the gfi's are (the outside plugs, covered, with 'test and reset' on them)
Yes - that's it - plug something into the GFI outlet, like a lamp or a hair dryer, and see if it works. If it does, press the "test" button and the power should cut out. Then press "reset" and the power should come back on.Quote:
