    Bathtub recaulking
I am recaulking a bath tub and have a 1/2 " gap to 3/4 " gap between the tub and the tile. I have had no luck in the past with my caulking jobs. Any suggestions for filling the gap prior to caulking, I read about using oakum to fill the gap, ever hear of this?
    Thank you

CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN... have to have all the "goo" gone. Bleach... let it dry.

There are caulking backers, foam. I've not used them. Usually, though, caulk fails because all the goo isn't gone. Soap scum, etc.

Just my 2 cents, wait for some more input from others that may have been there...

Wait. Do not caulk. Why do you have a gap that large? Your tub is settling. Check the floor for rot if it is wood. The supports for the tub are failing.
