Creatine is something that I as a high school football player wouldn't take at all, I talked to a doctor, the best thing is whey protein, most studies conducted on creatine are skeptical at best, plus you never know what's in some of those pills, creatine has been shown to retain water in your muscle cells, making them prettier, and in some cases increasing endurance under heavy weight lifting. I take whey protein and sometime amino tablets, which is what my doctor recommended.

Creatine should only be used if you are a powerlifter or bodybuilder because it raises your ATP levels for only 90 seconds. After that burst of energy you feel somewhat exhausted. Creatine is therfore a powerful asset for someone who is into serious lifting. Therefore it would not help you much. Weight gainers work great without side effects. Also whey protein and soy protein. Preferably whey as your body absorbs it faster.
