Laundry drain not draining
All right well, I know nothing of plumbing, at all... but my father-in-law installed our washing machine drain, and it is not draining, at all... all right, well we live in a 70 yr old house, and I admit a LOT of gunk was built up in the copper pipe that is used to drain the sink and the washing machine, but I ran a snake down it and I mean, it should hold some kind of water, as it did not feel entirely clogged. He made the p trap, its about 3 or 4 foot off ground where hose attaches, or rather sits, then on the top of the p-trap he put like a bowl and had to cut off a couple parts of the end of the drain hose to get it to fit in there, it is not secured in there but rather just shoved in there, then the p-trap goes into what I guess is a t, cemented and clamped on the pvc, then runs straight to the copper pipe, when the washer enters the drain cycle, it INSTANTLY starts running out of said "bowl" like its hitting some kind of air pressure, I mean NOTHING drains whatsoever, it all just comes rushing out, putting water on our floor, making the air coming out of a/c smell horrid. Any suggestions? By the way laundry is in basement, and we have a septic tank and everything jic that's needed. THANK YOU in advance
