I'll be rooting for your Packers. One of my favorite players is on the team - Clay Matthews. I'm hoping to see the Packers vs Jets.

Bella and Stringer - sorry to hear about all your aches, etc. Hope you feel better soon.

Way to go, J lo, now I think there are 3 of us!:D

Maybe 3 on this site - but all of my friends are rooting for the same thing. :) If it happens, I'm throwing a big Super Bowl party. I won't care who wins (sorry) - just want a great game.

Ya, actually I wrapped it with maxi pads, and have an ice bag over it while it's elevated. My mom is on her way home to drive me. Yup it's pretty sore, I think the shock is wearing off, and the pain is setting in. I'll let you all know when I get home...

I haven't finished catching up yet. But bella, maxi pads? Bless you my girl. As much pain as your feeling that did make me smile.

Gosh you guys, meaning Stringer and bella, your making us all worry. Stringer I know Marta is taking wonderful care of you. Please keep us updated because honestly you don't sound like your better in the least bit. Bella if I were closer I would be helping you out with your daughter and whatever else you needed. I hope someone is around to check in and help you out.

Hi Sunny. I just got back from a 2-week job in S. California. We worked a lot of hours, but also got to enjoy ourselves. It was in the mid-80's and so pretty. I also got to see my family and some good friends.

Dahlia - what a cute picture!

Oh good JLo. Atleast you were able to enjoy it even though you were there for work. You travel alot for your job it seems.

I used to travel a lot more. Now I travel enough to make it fun. Last year I was out of town about 50% of the time. Now it's more like 25%. I sure couldn't complain about this last trip. The day I left it was 24 degrees here. I landed in S. California, changed into shorts and a T-shirt, and then took a long walk on the beach. :)

When I worked at the bank I traveled a lot when I started. I hated it at first. But then I realized I loved it. The constant change was good. I actually had learned more traveling then when I was put in one place. Plus the change in people and personalities was fun.

That's what I love about my job - the change in people and always a new challenge. I usually enjoy my assignments, but when I get one that isn't so great I know it will be over soon. I also get to return to many of the projects annually, so you make little friendships as you go. It's fun to catch up with everyone.

How is your new job going now?

88sunflower
Jan 20, 2011, 09:27 AM
My new job. I was dreading that question. I quit. It was bad. In fact my husband encouraged me to quit. For six long weeks I went in there and didn't know what direction to turn. I would ask questions, do my job and then be told I did it wrong. Even though they told me how to do it. Repeatedly all day everyday. I had no one ounce of training on anything. I wasn't doing the job I was hired for at all. I tried to talk to the boss about it but he is clueless. But I kept trying. Finally it just knocked me to down far. I am a smart girl. But to be told over and over your wrong it really wears on you. Especially when they are the ones telling me how to do the work, then come out and look over my shoulder and say its wrong. I shed many tears. Finally Monday I couldn't do it any more. I left at lunch time. Which made it worse because I let myself down. I normally keep pushing until I get things but it was bad there.
On the brighter side the girl who placed me there made me feel tons better. I had a long talk with her. There was a girl hired a few weeks before me. She had also went to the job agency and complained about all the same things I had to say. So at least they know it wasn't me. I was thanful for that.
Also on the brighter side even though this is the last place my husband wants me, he was OK with me quitting and coming back to my old job. I hated coming back. But I couldn't stay in the new job. I was so excited and I wasn't even doing anything I was hired for. Had I been I may have stuck it out longer.

Well, I have read your comments about the job leading up to this so I'm not totally surprised. It's better you left before things got worse, plus your old job was still open. I hope that is going better now.

Thank you both. The worse part was making the choice to leave. That's not like me and even after I quit I cried pretty hard. He never replaced me here so I came right here and finished out the day. But I wished I would have went home. When I got here I was of course upset, it was obvious with tears running down my face. So a small amount of time went by and he called me a quitter. I couldn't believe it. Knowing how upset I was and knowing I came back to keep his store open he had all the nerve! He said it was a joke. Oh my god I wanted to slap him. Grrr... I gave him a piece of my mind as you can imagine.

Bella I am a true believer in that. Every new job I took on has always been better for me. I have never been set back. I was set back here as far as advancing in any of my skills. But he pays me super well so it actually helped us with the new house. That in itself makes it worth it.

Hey guys. I've been well taken care of today. A friend of mine came over and cooked me supper and did the dishes for me! Surprisingly I am not in too much pain. I keep expecting it to be more painful then what it is.

Tomorrow I write my entrance exam to some of the new classes I am taking. I'm nervous, but excited to get this rolling again. How is everyone else's night/day going? Any of you guys watch Jersey Shore? Sadly I'm addicted to reality t.v.

My night is going good. My boy was an angel tonight. We played crazy. Put him in bed. Now I am sitting with a drink watching TV. This only happens like 5times a year. Seriously. For some reason I go to bed super early now. For no reason. Am I old?? Gahh.

How is your ankle? How is your daughter? I wished I lived closer to you. My son would love her so. He is so mothering with younger children. Its way to cute.

Well, I went to the dentist this afternoon. I was right, I cracked the tooth straight down the middle all the way through the root. A perfect split. There was no decay just a freaky thing she said where the pressure of the bite hit a pressure point in the tooth and wham!

She is a very good dentist with all the modern equipment including a TV in each room with DirectV (watched the NFL channel), Bose head phones for relaxing music and a very good bedside manner and she has a lot of patience as I truly tested her.:rolleyes:

Even though she was great this is the most pain after an extraction I have ever had. And I have taken 4 strong Tylenol and 2 Ibuprofen and at the moment NOTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING... DA*N IT!!:eek::eek::rolleyes:

By the way, I feel a bit stronger today with this Bronchitis thing though.

Sorry to rant... pain is tremendous... the whole side of my face.. .

The kids are great, growing like weeds. It's scary because I still remember you when you first came to the site, a young 15 year old. Now you're legally an adult.

Jared is 12. I hope the time doesn't fly by too fast. Soon he'll be a teen, and he'll try to go further and further away from me. That's life, but I'm not looking forward to it. My years of being mommy, his heroine, his comfort, are almost over. Sigh.

I came back form a cruise, first time, fun time. There are some pictures in the thread, I don't know where exactly :o

Otherwise, pretty good. Waiting for my results now, and maybe I'll do some job hunting until I get to know what I'll do exactly, that is to go to college/university to study something, and that something, I still haven't got the faintest idea what it can be, so many choices, courses, all of different prices, duration and countries. What I'm really afraid is that I make the wrong choice. I'm not good at decisions :(

Well, for the time being, I'm waiting for my results and from there, I'll have a better idea of what to do.

Better clear that with the site Admins first... they own (or more actually run) the site and do have rules in that area... best to ask first than assume and get on their sh*t list.

I don't know yet, one thing that bothers me about medicine is that the years of study are hard, long and costly... so unless I get a scholarship, I don't think that it'll be affordable.

On the other hand, I might get a try in accounting. I loved it back when I did it at school, but because I had to choose a side for my O levels, and that I was doing very well in all 3 sciences, I took the science path. Accounting is only 3 years, plus some years of internship, so I think it would be easier.

Or, I might go towards engineering, maybe things concerning space and such :p
Something else I might do is teaching. Tuition teachers here make a lot of money lol. For O level teaching, they usually take R 400 per student per month(R 30 = 1 USD), and they take about 30 students in a batch, for a maximum of 5 batches a week. The total becomes R 60 000 a month, or about $1 000 a month

And for higher classes, the fees are higher, lol.

I need to choose well, two weeks to go until I get my results >.<

You will do so well no matter what you do.

Oh well, I'll be preparing myself for the test, if that's the reason for the appointment.

Oh good luck with your driver's license. I can still remember the day I got mine. I passed the test. I remember taking my moms car for a ride for the first time alone. It was sunny out and warm. I had the windows down and the radio on, because I was cool. I know every one looked at me and thought I was cool because I was driving. ( hee hee well that's how I thought anyway at 17)

It was so exciting! I am excited for you.

Unknown008
Jan 27, 2011, 08:31 AM
Lol, they won't allow a learner to drive alone here.

I think it's only after two years that they remove the learner status from your license here. I'm not much into cars, but hey, since I have some idle time between now and getting my results, I'm trying getting some things done.

And maybe I'll get the excitement when I'll drive a car...

Otherwise, I'm looking for some small jobs to get experience.

Butts dragging today... Took me over 10 hours to drive less than 20 miles to get home locally thanks to MANY idiots that actually believed All Season tires are really good in Ice and snow... and that they actually thought they knew how to drive in the slippery stuff. Something all too many people found out neither of which were really true. Based on the dozens of abandoned cars in awkward positions I had no trouble driving past in my old rear wheel drive car that doesn't even have a limited slip differential.

We had the freezing rain two days ago. Made for fun driving in the morning. Thankfully I've been in Canada most of my life, grew up driving on these roads in the winter. Not much phases me.

I did get to see two cops slip on the ice while they were tending to people that overestimated their driving skills. That was entertaining. :)

I grew up driving in it too... Learned in the snow and ice in fact... but thousands of idiots lacking the common sense to stay off the road they don't know how to drive on would stop a dog sled team in its tracks.

IE... Three feet of snow would have stopped me... in fact 2 feet would have in this car... not what we got however.

Don't be as it is not your problem. Try to relax. Your out of the loop. If there is funny business going on someone else will answer for it. Its not your fault nor could you have done anything about a fire no matter what the circumstances are surrounding it.

Give yourself a break.

Well it just wasn't a good day. I know its not my fault. I am a tiny better now. But I am telling you I won't be surprised it this was done on purpose. You all heard me talk about not being paid and this and that. The bank wanted a meeting with him in the morning. Now come on! Seems funny to me. I am so mad. Mad because he has been dumb enough to joke about doing that. Mad because he lost it all. All the caddys, all the houses, both stores. The new half million dollar place. He was losing it all. Well how was I supposed to know tomorrow is was all going. I don't know why the bank wanted the meeting but he isn't stupid and neither am I. I want to feel bad for him but at the same time I sat and watched it slip downhill and his bad choices. Economy is bad yes, but his business thrived and owned this area.

We have a normal Ontario winter here now, about 2 feet of snow, warm days, below freezing days, alternately. Driving is not pleasant but I don't have to drive on the 8 lane highway through Toronto as many do.

My son, now working in Tennessee until March, has to drive with people who are not used to even an inch of snow and he says it is hair-raising on the roads in Nashville. I pray for him daily, quite honestly.

I agree with you a thousand times over. He has been talking a tiny bit with me about it and its not looking good. Its still under investigation. I have an opinion but my opinion isnt good either to be honest with you. If any one saw him the way I did...

If there was a lot of crookedness going on... I'm sure they are going to tind it... and having trouble meeting payroll or bills is a HUGE red flag...

He knows that and he knows how it looks. That's why I think he is now in this deep depression. Honestly I hate to say it but I don't think he did it on purpose so much. But I think he did it in the thinking "well if I do this and it catched big deal, if not business goes on in the morning" I think he maybe saw something unsafe and in the state of mind he was in he left it and didn't care.

"Truer words...."Bella.

I was single for a long time after my divorce and dated a LOT of women and lived with a few. But at some point when I asked myself if this is the woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with... welllllll... :)

Then when I was not expecting it I was introduced to this beautiful woman with sexy dark eyes and was a good person that at first wanted to be friends.

Now I have been in sales for a long, long time and when I set my sights on something I want...

I had to 'work' very hard but the reward/s in this marriage have been more than I could ever expect.

She's out there, choose wisely grasshopper.

Nope Tick... what I said is what they are expecting, it will slam the area. It is an unusual storm, coming at us from the south. It picked up moisture from the Gulf. It has already passed Springfield in Illinois, be here in a few hours.

Here is a pretty good checklist for winter safety Adam:

Personal Winter Safety Vehicle Checklist

With the severe snow storm in our forecast, be sure to inspect personal vehicles IN ADVANCE for necessary winter equipment and to make sure it’s in good condition.

o Ice Scraper/Snowbrush
o Shovel
o Cat Litter or Sand
o Jumper Cables
o Flashlight and Extra Batteries
o First Aid Kit
o Road Flares or Warning Lights
o Small Tool Kit
o AM/FM Radio
o Blankets
o Extra Clothing and Footwear
o Non-Perishable Energy Foods
o Water
o Emergency Phone Numbers

o Perform a maintenance Check-Up
o Check your tire pressure
o Check your washer fluid

Also consider the needs of your passengers: baby formula, diapers and activities for small children

The only thing that I would add is to have those packaged hand warmers available. The ones I use are called 'Grabber-hand warmers.' They are packets that only need to be opened to provide some heat and can be purchased at Bass Pro, Menard's, Loews, Home Depot, Ace, etc.

Problem is water left in your car overnight in winter turns into an ice cube. But it's a clean icecube you can lick if you can peel away the container. Melting it is possible.. but might prove problematic in certain circumstances. But still better to have it than not.

I don't like Kittly Litter... it turns into a greasy mud... at least the brand I tried in the past did. I keep a gallon bucket that has a lid and is full of sandblasting grit, it doesn't draw moisture and freeze into a block like sand will. And a set of emergency strap-on tire chains.

I got a German Army Entrenching tool from a Army Surplus store... it folds up small and unlike the American army version it also has a pick that folds out... useful for thick hard packed snow or thick ice, been carrying that for over a decade as part of my winter kit I keep in a double wide milk crate.

I just had to go and 'save' my sister in law. Thankfully I lent her the money to get new tires last week. But there is a white out with gale winds, ice covered roads with snow and huge drifts. She locked the brakes I think as she rolled into a snow bank with the butt of her car up in the air, thankfully her cell phone was charged this time.

Normally her trip home is about 40 minutes tonight 3 1/2 hours. Traffic and treacherous roads. The cross wind moved my car to the left about three feet. We have a 5 foot drift at our front door. It is 6:10 pm and the main part of the blizzard isn't to start until 9 pm.

Oh and Tick, we used my wife's SUV with all drive.

I hope you are able to get to your visits safely hon.

I just thought I'd give you an update. I'm back home this week as I have to work. My grandfather passed away on Friday. It was a pretty peaceful transition, which is all we could hope for. I think keeping busy with that will help in my acceptance, also.

Big hug to JLo. I'm so sorry for your loss sweetie.

I miss chatting with all of you. I've been so disconnected lately. I think that I'm trying to distance myself because a part of me still really wants to leave AMHD because of all the "go" crap, and all the issues lately.

Right now I don't think answering questions is a good idea. Most of them are three word questions no one can answer, or all chat speak, or questions we've answered over and over and over again. I mean really, how many times do we have to say that we can't tell you if you're pregnant over the internet? Heck, the other day someone wanted a psychic reading, I posted the sticky link, the OP responded with ****off. Well, doesn't take a genius to figure out what the **** stood for. It really made me question why I'm even here.

Has anyone started a new chat thread?

If so, can you make sure to post the link at the end of this one? I know I'm not on chatting a lot, but I would still like to keep up with what you're all doing, and join in whenever I don't feel like pulling my hair out, or even when I do. ;)

Just wanted to add.

I started a peeve thread. It's been a while since we had one. Seeing as we've had a lot of issues on AMHD lately, I figured a peeve thread would be just the ticket.

I'll post the link for anyone that wants to come on over and vent. :)

Hi Unkykins.

The weather here is always changing. Super cold one day (-35C) then unseasonably warm the next (12C). We don't know whether to get out the thermal underwear or the shorts and T-shirts. :)

Yes, the newbies we've been getting lately are driving me batty. I don't know why we're getting so many silly questions, or so many rude posters. The only thing that's changed is the skin of the site, so I have to assume it has something to do with that.

I guess we better leave the last few posts for Sunny to post a link to the new thread.
