It's okay :)

Most of them don't want to hear the answer they should hear and they are not happy with that and don't face it... -.-

And that attitude is what will hold them back in the future... you have to be able to see and accept as well as acknowledge when you are wrong (everyone is sometimes). At least in cases where there actually is a clear right and wrong answer.

Hope your feeling better today Sunny.

Good morning people. Thank you bella. I am feeling a bit better. I actually took Claritin and that helped better then the cold/flu stuff I was using. I never take medicine. Not sure why I am this time around but I guess it won't kill me.

Glad you are feeling better...

You are young... you WILL at some point see someone that is so stubborn they won't admit when they are wrong... even after they realize they are.

That's where the phrase "beating a dead horse" comes from.

No really I am 37. In reality wrong 80% of the time but love to put up a good fight. I am quite stubborn. It was born in me. The whole family is like that. Not good. I am my own worse enemy most days.

Hello folks, how's everyone doing? I'm racking my brain on what to make for my dinner party tonight! I know, this should have been decided before I invited people. I'm thinking chicken Alfredo calzone's with Caesar salad. Home made dressing and croutons, bacon bits of course.

Any other ideas? It's a total of 8 (including me) people coming. Doesn't have be too fancy, we kind of take turns and once a month we all get together at someone's house and have dinner, drinks and play cards.

Adam, how's things going at work? I just re read and saw what was happening. So was this a close friend of yours? I'm so sorry for the family and friends in mourning.

No no no, I have no idea who this guy was, he lived about 60 miles or so away from me and just happened to end up in the landfill I work at.

adam_89
Nov 22, 2010, 12:20 PM
Hey, the issue is as resolved as it is going to be. They never found the body so they gave up because they couldn't search forever. So, if he is here, he will rest with the garbage until the end of days.

Sure is a windy day here, it really sucks because I have so much paper to pick up it is ridiculous. I picked up paper for abour 4 hours and didn't make the slightest impact. I am sure I will have to stay later to pick up some more, If I can get a picture uploaded I will show you a small fraction of what I am talking about.

Good morning guys.

I have been a busy little beaver here at work. I found this oak table and I have been sanding it down. I am using all the materials here at work since its my last week here, kind of. I am then staining it a walmut color and have this super pretty marble tile I am breaking up and doing a random mosiac look. I hope it turns out. But I am spending my days doing that since I want to get it done before I am done here.

Well my last day is iffy. My last full time day is Saturday this week. My new boss doesn't want to screw over a locally owned business. So he said if I wasn't replaced yet I can just work part time there for now. I am OK with that because at least I am in. Monday I go there 730-1130 then take a lunch and come here. I swear someone is looking over my shoulder. Boy how my life has changed since I first came here. Ok tell me this job wasn't a blessing in disguise as that saying goes. I know I have rambled about this a lot but I have to again. What, about a month ago I say how the boss had the tax guys in his store and the cops ready to lock the doors. Well that was just the state. Today it was a call from the IRS. Ha ha they were in his other store. Good grief! He has 45 days to pay what he owes, and that was with pleading, or they do the tax levy thing. Wow. As far as I know the store I am leaving he is just closing. He won't replace me. Stupid in my opinion. He has 2 more years on his contract. Well all I keep thinking is how lucky I was for this job. It fell on my lap and what timing.

Hey Bella. How strange. I just was thinking of you. I just got here to the store and looked at the calendar. What is St.Andrew's Day? It's a Canandian holiday listed.

Aurora_Bell
Nov 30, 2010, 11:51 AM
Hmm I'm not sure what St. Andrews day is, let me look it up:

St. Andrew's Day is the feast day of Saint Andrew. It is celebrated on 30 November.

Saint Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, and St. Andrew's Day (Scottish Gaelic: Latha Naomh Anndra) is Scotland's official national day. In 2006, the Scottish Parliament designated St. Andrew's Day as an official bank holiday.

Although most commonly associated with Scotland, Saint Andrew is also the patron saint of Greece, Romania, Russia and the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.[1]

In Germany, the feast day is celebrated as Andreasnacht ("St. Andrew's Night"), in Austria with the custom of Andreasgebet ("St. Andrew's Prayer"), and in Poland as Andrzejki ("Andrews").

Sounds like another day to over eat. As much as I would love to be eating good food, I am trying to be on my best behavior, cause I know come December I am going to eat like a pig. :D

Interesting. THanks for that.
I am eating can cheese with crackers right now like its my job. Normally I just snack all day. Well being at the new job all morning I don't do that. Then I have been going to the gym before I get here. I get here pretty darn hungry let me tell you. I have already had half bag of chips. Now spray cheese on some Ritz. Yummy for my tummy.

Aurora_Bell

Gahh that sounds delicious. I always want spray cheese but my mother never lets me buy it. I even live on my own, but I am sure if she found it I my cupboards she would have a fit.

Shh don't tell anyone, but I pretty much ate an entire bag of roast chicken chips and half a brick of cheese to myself.

Hahaha! Good idea! She thinks it's the epiphany of un healthy food. I beg to differ. I think something like pork rinds would be. My mother has always been obsessed with healthy eating and weight-loss.

To be honest, I don't even know if our grocery stores sell that stuff.

Hi Bella,

How is everything? I bet your daughter is getting excited for Christmas. During our trip, one of the family friends visited several times with her 15 month old son. He was so cute, and John ended up playing with him a lot and rocking him to sleep. It was so cute to see.

I made a very rich pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. A lot of people commented that it was the best they had ever tasted. Would you like that recipe?

Aurora_Bell
Dec 1, 2010, 06:14 PM
Sure! Any recipe you want to share I want to see! :D

That is so cute about John and the baby. There is nothing sweeter than watching a man get all soft and lovey with a baby.
Any plans for young Jlo's and John's in your future?

E is estatic for Christmas. My dad took her to his work Christmas party they held for the kids, and she came home screaming "I MET SANTA"! It was very cute. All she wants is a yo-yo. I have no idea where she got that from lol.

All is quiet other than that. Haven't heard any thing about the court date yet. I did see him one day when I was driving down the street. He was on his front step, well I assume it was his front step as he is on house arrest.

I'll put the recipe up later - time to make dinner now. :)

I loved watching him play with the little boy, but it was especially a tender moment when he rocked him to sleep. We definitely want children. We were thinking we'd start in 2 years, but we are basically open to whatever happens. I just think it would be nice for us to have some time alone together first.

A yoyo? You are getting off easy! Something tells me she'll get a lot more than that, though.

I'm glad to hear it's quiet now. Hope it stays that way.

Oh she will be spoiled. My parents always go nuts. Between them, my friends and other family, I hardly have to spend anything! Woo hoo! Of course I get her stuff to, but I also try to do the traditional winter things, ice skating, hot chocolate, tobogganing, snow men, all the fun stuff you miss out on when you get older ;)

Time alone sounds like a great idea! You will never fully appreciate it until those late night early mornings start. All totally worth it though.

Well I am off to bed. Early morning, oh and E has her Christmas recital tomorrow evening. Last year I bawled.

Well of course we had our house closing, then the snow fall came and we went last night and got the most perfect Christmas tree. It was a good darn day. Although the hubby wasn't so sure about the three. I usually pick out a 7 foot one and have to cut off half of it. This year I saw this short fat thing and just wanted it. I don't even need a chair to decorate it and he thinks I am sick. I have never done this before. Its always the biggest on the lot for me. For real.

I had two trips that way. One for Boot Camp at gorgeous downtown Great Lakes.

And the other was a trip to scenic Schronberg. I left Dallas at four in the morning, worked until 2 A.M. at the customer site, had a 9 A.M. meeting the following morning and was on the plane home by 3 P.M.

I think I may have missed a few site while I was there.

As I know you know, all cities have 'that part of town' Smooth. All other points on the compass including downtown is beautiful, educational, great nightlife, has terrific restaurants and is very interesting.

I lived downtown at Lake Point Tower right at Navy Pier at the lake for 4 years on the 26th floor. I live in the suburbs now, but what I miss most is that fantastic view, especially at night.

Looks good, I might tone it down a bit and not have it too hot, so you pour the sauce over the chicken in a pan before it goes in the oven and let it soak in at the chicken cooks?

Don't worry too much about Wednesday being a bad day, if each day is getting better doesn't that automatically mean its getting easier :)

There is a lot of sauce and that's how I like it. I pour it over, bake it forever. But I keep pulling it out and spooning the sauce over the top. Stir it up. You maybe don't need as much molasses either. Sometimes I make it real dark brown other times I don't. But its so good. I have noticed with my wings I do let them bake until I stir them up and the meat is falling right off. I hope you try it and it turns out.

You ever notice chicken is like hamburg? You can do 101 things with it and its cheap to buy.

I started cooking with just a few dishes I would serve others and experimented on myself until I felt comfortable with what I was doing. Now, I'll cook anything and feel comfortable. It just takes time. When it comes to impressing girls, though, anything grilled is great.

Well well somebodys in demand :)

I presume you probably like to stop working at your old place as soon as possible (because other wise you wouldn't have gone job hunting :D ) but I can see why it has its uses with christmas just round the corner, it can't hurt to have a little extra mulah lining your pocket :)

Just don't over do it working too much, this is the holiday season after all :)

Hey we got 5 inches of beautiful, white stuff last night. It is a damp snow that clumps into a ball easily just like the one you had Bear. First snow, everything is so beautiful and shinning.

Get some nice sleep between those cool, crisp sheets Sunny an oh yeah don't forget to dream of those sugar plums and candy canes.

I am only about half way finished with the inside decorations which requires a lot of stooping and stretching so about evry half hour I need to move around and have a cigarette.

Good night, sweet dreams,

Hey Stringer nice to see you around. Hope all is well.

I made JLo's pumpkin pie on Saturday. It was amazing. I'm not even a big fan of Pumpkin pie, I'm a once a year type of gal, but this stuff was amazing! I'll be up loading pic's to the thread tomorrow.

Bella, Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. I work with a lady who had shingles. She rarely complains about anything, but she talked about how painful they are. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm glad you like the pumpkin pie. I'm cooking Christmas dinner - well, it's at our house and I'm making prime rib, potatoes and sweet potatoes, and the dessert. Everything else is coming pot-luck style. My father-in-law asked me to bake the pumpkin pie again, but I still need to make one other dessert. I'm looking for something Christmassy - any suggestions?

Sunny - Sounds like you are working really hard. It's no wonder you are tired. Hopefully you are almost done at the old place.

I like to make blueberry buckle cake, with the bigger granuels of sugar on top. Sorry I am having a brain fart as to the name of the sugar I use.

And I usually attempt a red velvet cake. Let me know if you want any of the recipes.

OooO I also have a great recipe for Cranberry upside down cake as well as cranberry swirl cheese cake. Not at all tart, almost tastes like a strawberry rhubarb.

Hey Sunny! :)

It's great to hear! Still making preparations for Christmas, and tomorrow I have some sort of costume party with the friends of the church and the theme is: costume of cartoon characters.

I've got a nice kung-fu outfit, but I don't know what character that will be :p I'm looking for one right now.

Dec 9, 2010, 11:21 AM
Hey unky. Dressing up is so fun. I love costumes. I bet you will look great!

Christmas is fun. That husband of mind is making me crazy. Every year I get the biggest possible tree money can buy. Of course we cut off about 3 feet of it. But it's the fun of it. So this year I save the hassle and picked out a perfect tree about 3 feet from the ceiling. He then tells me he likes the super over sized trees I pick out. GGrr... you ever just want to slap someone? He swears under his breath every year at me trying to cut it down to fit. Now its not big enough. You men talk about us women being confused?

Hey Sunny, Hey Unky!

Glad to hear you are liking the new job perspectives! I am feeling a bit better. I am still in a quite a bit of pain, but I think I am starting to heal.

We are busy getting ready for Christmas over here, getting my tree tomorrow. Can't wait!

What about you? Are you already for Christmas?

Unknown008
Dec 9, 2010, 11:28 AM
Well, I'm as confused as you when I read that...

Long time ago, it we used to buy the tree (which I guess is not similar to your Christmas trees) but then, we bought an artificial one. The natural ones are becoming so costly! Decorating the tree is fun, except for the lamps (or bulbs, not sure how you call them). We have ones with spiky glass and we have to be careful when laying them.

Dec 9, 2010, 11:29 AM
I am kind of ready. I was just talking with red on FB about my son. I was good to go. Bought him a pile of stuff. Actually I was done with him. Then low and behold he spits out the letter to santa. Oh great. Not a thing I got is on the list. But its all stuff he said he wanted. Makes no sense his list is off the wall things. So now I am scrambling to get some things off his list. Kids!

The new job is causing me a great deal of stress. Not so much the work, the people. One tells me one way and someone tells me something else. I went in the bosses office this morning and threw in the towel. I was ready to give up. I straight out told him I had no idea what was expected of me the minute I walk in. I am in a whirlwind each morning there. But on a brighter note because of this I have discovered mistakes on everyone else's part. Its been on going. Since I questioned it I have now saved more then likely thousands from this point on. The one job alone I was looking at was under billed over $600. Thanks to me its now in the light.

Aurora_Bell
Dec 9, 2010, 11:36 AM
Well that's awesome Sunny! Don't get discouraged. Just ask your boss what is expected, and if any one gives you trouble, all you have to say is "This is what Mr. Burns told me to do". I bet your boss is very happy about the savings you have found! Maybe after pointing this stuff out, you are one step closer to a management position?

Unky we just call them christmas lights... lol real original eh? I guess we would call them bulbs too. But I bet yours are a lot different then ours. We don't really have sharp jagged Christmas decorations... too much room for law suits I'd think ;)

We should all take pics of our Christmas trees and post them... hmm maybe I'll start a thread for it. What do you guys think?

Sunny - Good find. The boss must have been impressed. That's going to pay off for you over and over.

I keep thinking about Red. I see her answering questions on occasion, but not as much as usual. She must be busy. I miss her posts. She always had such an interesting way of saying things.

Other than planning Christmas dinner and buying cards, I haven't done anything yet for Christmas. I haven't even gotten a tree yet. I guess I had better get busy this weekend.

I'm feeling a little sluggish. Not a good thing going into my busy season - I think I need to take better care of myself. I've been pigging out on food, not exercising as much as usual, and not getting enough sleep. Not a good combo.

I just wanted the technical term, but hey, I remember that the ones we used had problems and we bought some new lights... then one say, it was the complete opposite! I don't know what happened, but the 'new' lights were the ones which were not good and the 'defective' old ones were the good ones... go figure... I don't even know now whether it was a dream or not. :p

And by the way, the old ones are the spiky ones. The 'new' ones were not pointy at all.

Bella - I hope you feel better.

Sunny - that is frustrating, but as you know it's also a big opportunity. My guess is that the people there don't really know what they are doing well enough to train you. Maybe once you get established and figure everything out, you can suggest policy and procedure manuals be written.

Ooops sorry bella, you did say it. I am all in a fuzz lately. Some things are bugging me.

JLo your right. That's the discussion the boss and I had. No one cares. They see all these papers passing through our fingers as just that, papers. But I guess being the way I am and the boss we know its not just paper its money. All these papers have value. So everyone else just does what they have to do to get by from the way it looks. I am opposite. I have to have things perfect and the way it "should" be. Which will be good. But not good for me in the start.

I am making no sense. I need some holiday cheer because today I am searching for a lightening strike to head my way. :(

I have two water tanks in there,I think one is for heating (I have an oil burner and a back boiler,I think its called duel heating?) and the other for showers/sinks/ flushing the toilets.

There's two pipes running side by side,I can't see where there go,but the leak is coming from one of the connections.

It has made its way through the bedroom ceiling underneath.

Still waiting on plumber.

The house is 30 years old,if that makes any difference.

I'll bet you have galvanized Cast Iron pipes... common outside the USA. That's about the average lifespan of them I've come to understand from the years I've spent in Italy.

That can get ugly and expensive if your walls are constructed like they are in Italy, where the interior walls are masonary and the pipes are buried in the walls (some repairs have mounted them on the surface of the walls to save money), VS wood framed hollow walls with gypsum board or plaster that is common in the USA.

The house insurance will cover the cost its just getting it fixed now before it gets worse, plus with days before christmas and the freezing weather the local plumber is up to his ears in work.

He called about 10 minutes ago to let me know he had not forgotten about me and it will be after 10pm before he gets here.
