Nooooooo!

Well, I won't be here for long, and my mom takes it slow, so maybe... :)

He's a really nice guy. He drives a BMW, he may lend it to you. ;)

He's really a sweetheart, a bit shy, which is why he's never been married, but a really nice guy.

Of course, he lives in Canada, so that may be an obstacle.

Naah, I've been trying to convince my mom to take a trip up north! :)
But, she would never stay, she's scared of the cold... :p

Naah, I don't need his BMW, I have my own Acura! :D

You get accustomed to the cold, trust me. After a while you just feel numb, then it's all good.

We do have heat indoors, she'll be fine. ;)

Ooh, I love cold, she can't stand it... hypothyroidism (or hyper? I get them mixed up) and she has a lower core temp, so she isn't even recommended to be in cold climates...

I'm German, so the food is very good.

Wiener Schnitzel, blau kraut, spaetzle, you name it. I'm actually a very good cook, even though I hate cooking. ;)

Of course, because I'm German and live in Canada, the beer is also very good. ;)

You can watch me drink, I'll watch you eat. :)

I hate to wash dishes, but sadly, if I didn't, we wouldn't have any clean ones in the house.

I'll make you a deal though. If you do the cooking, I will do the dishes, if you keep me company while I do. :)

Not sure hon, there seems to be some remaining mental fatigue and this strange headache that is just over my left eye....

Got to bed at 5:30 AM...

Everyone one told me that they had a great time, food was great and they had plenty to drink.

Mart wasn't too happy with one girl ( a new girlfriend of a guy we know) that gave me a 'full body' massage kind of good bye though... yes, tried to back up... but she kept on coming... :)

What's a guy to do?? :D:eek::rolleyes:

We ended up with 56 people, just short of the 60 or so that confirmed.

We all had fun though, thanks for asking sweet.:)

I'm confused by a few things on that thread:
1: She says she didn't know anything was wrong. The lack of punctuation makes me think it could be about the husband/mystery girl, OR the husband/losing his job.
2: If he doesn't have a job, why the hell are they blowing a bunch of money going to ball games? That's not what you do when you don't have a job.

I do miss her, more then I can say.

Death doesn't faze me much, I've pretty much become numb to it. Not that I don't feel, cry, mourn, but I don't allow it to take over, I can't.

I had to learn that the hard way. I almost died when my parents died, I can't allow anything to get to me like that again. That's why I don't usually let people in, because when you do they can hurt you, even unintentionally.

You all are the exception to my rule. I don't know why. Somehow you all snuck in past the armor around my heart, but still, I have a protective layer left, no one can breach that.

I've been preparing for Starby's death for a long time. It was no less a shock, but I mourned a long time ago.

Does this make any sense to anyone? Did I say too much? I sure hope not.

My apologies - I've just followed a link from Alty to here. I've just had one helluva noisy welcome party, thanks to you guys, and we needed to move things to the Lounge - but the link brought me specifically to here. Oddly, before I even posted any reply in my 'Hi' thread, I was reading about this wonderful lady 'Starby.' I really do wish I had joined here earlier and had the pleasure of knowing her.

I'm not too good at 'You Tube' links, but isn't there a song about 'Castles in the Sky' ? Maybe it's already been linked here, but I just felt I wanted to mention it, as this good lady Starby seemed to have a love for such romantic edifices. I shouldn't be posting here, as a stranger and a newbie, I know - but I have seen what an impact this lady has had on peeps here, and I cannot be silent about that.

Starby was a great lady. For some background, we've been doing our little chat threads for a long time now. Each thread has a limit of 1500 posts, then the mods shut it down. Starby's favorite theme was the castle, so this thread is in her memory. :)

Thanks AGAIN for your kindness, guys. I must seem to have an unhappy knack of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, I know. Maybe I'm being a drama queen, but I'm in tears, here - literally. Yeah, OK. I've had a drink, so I'm 'tired and emotional.' I'm not an alcoholic - YET. But I drive for a living, and I drive PEOPLE. I DO have a drink habit, though, and I CANNOT hit the sack at night if I'm sober. Seven days a week - no detox break for my liver & kidneys. I have been like this for some time, and I keep telling myself I'll pack it all in soon - but I never do.

I haven't thoroughly read through every post, but I scanned through, and found that 'Jo' had tripped on a shovel. I needed to know what was the cause of her sad death for some reason. I followed this thread further, and found the true sadness surrounding Jo's death.

Look, you guys - I might seem like I'm attention-seeking, or headline-grabbing. Think what you will, it matters not, in the end. I followed a link here tonight from another friend whom I know cares for me - (just by natural curiosity). I then followed a link in the sig of someone who welcomed me - Alty (I honestly don't know why!! ). I felt attracted to a woman I had never known - but whose death affected me deeply for some reason. I then got linked to this thread, and learned about castles - and shovels - and the way we often cover up our deepest problems with a veneer of 'trivia.'

I've already said I speak from the heart, and that gets me into trouble sometimes. I truly never expected to be speaking so deeply in my first posts in a new forum. I really feel that Jo has touched me through you guys, and I want to thank you ALL. You don't get forums about alcohol-related problems in the bank charges sites I have been in. If you haven't got one here, then you damn well are going to get one!! I'm sure you have, though - and I'll be in there soon, Thank you all. Thank you, Jo. Maybe - just for once - somebody put me in the right place at the right time, eh ?

BLESS you, Jo.

I would but unfortunately I can't. I just spent 80 dollars at my vet to get his vaccinations and a health check and it seems he has this skin disease called demdectic mange.

Yes I can see that, sometimes when we think that we are the only ones that have a problem we are awakened to others situations. And we realize that we want to help all we can especially when it happens to a friend.

But giving concern and support is a good thing and sometimes that is possibly all we can do. Time is usually required and it seems to help us bring some sense to bad circumstances.

My heart goes out to my friends who seem to be in any situation that doesn't have an easy answer.

Chin up, you can always have a whinge to us, trust me, it makes you feel 100 times better after a good vent.

On a doggy note: Dermadectic mange is the easiest form of mange to treat so you are lucky there ;)
Usually just a few injections and it clears up.

True Stringer. It can be rough sometimes. Sorry if I was complaining to much. I just have had a bad day then to see Sunny going through all this it just makes things worse then I get the call about my dog.

When we lived in North Carolina and the kids were younger we had a beautiful dog/friend an Irish Setter named Lady. One of those dogs that just couldn't give you enough love. She would just want to lick your face like you had steak all over it.

She got mange and her health decreased, we took her to the vet and did everything that we could for her, but apparently it wasn't enough Adam. She passed, and it was one of the saddest things that we ever had to deal with. And both of my children experienced their first real loss, it was devastating.

shazamataz
Sep 1, 2009, 09:05 AM
Have you had the same vet for a long time?
Usually they will accept payments if you have seen them for a while.

If you are new to this particular vet it still can't hurt to ask.

Sarcoptic mange is the nasty one, I suspect that is what Stringers dog had although I could be wrong.

Dermodectic mange is a lot less serious and is usually limited to areas around the head.

Hello.

Today I was pretty busy. So busy that I held in my pee for most of the day.

A long time ago I was telling a friend that pepper does not make me sneeze [like on t.v.] and he suggested to me to smell it. Like a dummy I put it up to my nose and basically snorted it. Ha-- idiot. Since then, for some reason, every time my nose can pick up the scent of black pepper I sneeze.

Anyway... like I was saying I was holding on to my pee most of the day.

Dinner time happened and then there it was... the pepper. I sneezed so hard I actually peed myself a little... more like a sprinkle but enough to be noticeable and embarrassing.

Ah. What a day.

Oh its shanking Stringer. I have been working 'specially hard in the weight room on that -et of mine. Maybe I can use it to distract the deputy. But isn't he nakes in the pond? Hmm... interesting. Mixing with us civilians.

He has had trouble finding a place to pin on his badge, but he's still trying. :)

Explain: "I have been working 'specially hard in the weight room on that -et of mine." Please...

Oh just making it a bit firmer so to speak. When adam decides to find a spot to pin his badge it won't be there.

Well kind of like pin the tail on the donkey. But the buns of steal, well that's impossible.
So he nicely chose his own tool to work with and it hangs a bit off. But its hanging.

well done!!

congrats..
was there ever any doubt alty!

Tons of doubt.

My neighbor, who already works for Capital health, didn't get it, why me?

I've been a stay at home mom for the last 10 plus years.

My interview was terrible.

They wanted past employer references, I didn't have any that would have helped them.

I really didn't think I'd get it.

I can assure you, employers don't pay people cause they give bad interviews,or if they think those people are not able for the job.

You got the job because they think you are the best person for the job..

And you are.

Celebrate!

Maybe it helped that you followed up with a phone call and showed that you really wanted it. I know that when someone shows interest above and beyond it gets my attention. If several are qualified and one wants it / needs it then I pay more attention.
