I've arrainged and edited the first part of your lyrics so that they'll fit some kind of meter better. Please let me know what you think?

    On my way to Ireland
Far north of here I go
    My life's journey began
Through the window of my soul.

Meter is about how the words, sentences and rhythms of the music all fit together in some kind of even flow. Sometimes the flow can be uneven. But, your song will have an even flow.

Have you ever taken dance lessons?

I'm glad that you like it! :)

What about if you've ever taken dance lessons?

    It's about meter...

    Did you ever have to count when you were dancing? Like, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, or, 1, 2, 1, 2?

    Yes :)

If you counted like that, then you already know a little bit about meter. Your counting allowed you to learn how to dance in the meter of a piece of music.

Please click on the following links and listen to the song that's there. A couple of the links will only lead to an instrumental of the song. Please let me know what you think of the music.

I can't open up the YouTube ones because I'm on a really slow connection.

I love this song and music, it's about Molly Malone.
I like music that's not very fast.

Your song can have a melody in a similar style to the melody that you've heard. It's an Irish style. About as Irish as an Irish melody can get.

Would you please change the following four lines of your song so that they have more of a rhyme to them, please? Your ideas are really good, but it would be easier for me if they had more of a rhyme to them. The lines need to be about the same length each. You know, to fit some kind of meter like you could dance to it.

    Thanks!

    A whisper of wind
If I could hold it for a moment in time
    Walk along a wooded path
    Heart held so dear

Yes, it's about Molly Malone! Did you know that I'm from Celtic origin like Irish people?

    Yeah of course.

What could I write for chorus?
Something that has a title of the song in it...

Let me work on a chorus while you work on those lines.

Here's a possibility for a chorus. Anything in the song can be changed.

    Ireland, oh Ireland!
A-journeying I go! (Or, a place to where I'll go.)
The fields are green, so lush and green,
    To Ireland, I'll go!

    Or maybe...

    This is a place
    To listen
    To hear
    ... (something, I don't know)
It feels like home to me

Do you mean for that to be for the chorus or for those other four lines?
