    Clear sac on pubic hair?
Hi. I recently shaved my pubic hair and, as always, tweezed some hairs that were hard to shave off. As I pulled some hairs out, they had a clear sac-like thing attached to the hair that was underneath the skin. I've let the hair grow back in some, and if I tweeze out other hairs, some of them also have this clear stuff attached - always underneath the skin. I don't have any itching or a rash, but I'm wondering if this is something I should be worried about?
    Thanks.

No, this is normal. Every hair on your body has it. It is the hair follicle itself, or the "root" of the hair shaft. It has a sebaceous (oil) gland that surrounds it.

What you are seeing is the root of the shaft of the hair. Every hair on your body has this, on some hairs it is microscopic though, and that is why you do not see it every time.

I had thought it might be the root, but it is much larger than the root on a normal hair. It runs for about half a centimeter, from just above the root to where the hair emerges above the skin, and wraps around the hair itself, instead of being a small round thing at the very bottom. Does this still sounds like something normal?

Yes, it does sound normal. This may be larger due to the larger diameter of the pubic hair. You may have had a great bit of oil in the sebaceous gland surrounding the root and this could be what is making it look larger than what you are used to.

No worries, all should be well.

Well, If you pull a hair out fast enough, the root will come out with the hair. This happens to me too. If you pull the hairs by the front of your head super fast, you will get a fat, waxy, root every time! Anyway this isn't a scalp infection, just the hair root. And if the root has a black dot on the end of it, its just the bulb of the hair(the place that connects your hair to your follicle). Hope this helped!
