    DynaZip UnZIP Error (WindowsXP)
    I will pay $75 (via Paypal or Credit Card) to whoever can help me solve my issue.

    I am having problems with ZIP files.

    I re-installed a program that I've been using for years, but when I try to update it using it's "Restore" function (from a zip file), I get the following error:

    DynaZip UnZIP Error: File not found (No valid Zip file indicated)

    I know that the ZIP file is good (I've verified it on other computers using the same program and the same operating system).

    I'll pay the $75 to the first person that either

    a) gives the answer as a reply that solves my problem, or
    b) speaks to me to solve the issue (PM me with a phone number that I can reach between 8am and Noon EST).

    I recognize that this is not the way that this site is meant to work, but I'm in a pinch, so am trying out this new way to ask a question.

    Errrm WinXP deals with zip files as standard so a third party app isn't really needed ;)

    Anyway, go get WinRAR as it's a more encompassing archiving tool.

    Hmmm OK ignore the above as it's cobblers.

    From reading here, it would appear the reinstall hasn't worked correctly and you need to make sure ALL of the program is removed and reinstalled cleanly.

    It would appear that you issue isn't zip files, per say, but the actual app and dll reliances..
    A corruption in a critical dll on reinstall could easily cause an issue.

    Worth a try is a copy&paste of the complete app from a machine that works and replace the install on the machine with the issue.
    The registry entries will be fine and this should resolve the dll corruption.

    Would help if we knew what the application is ;)

    The application is TenantPro 6.0. They are on 7.0 now and will not support 6.0 at all.

    Yes, I did see some dll issues when googling, but didn't understand it.

    I'll try the copy paste of all files from the computer that works, and let you know how it goes.

    This person on these forums (see link below) was able to get it to work basically by using a different copy of the file.

    If you're trying to do this from a disc or a USB drive, you could try copying it to your hard drive first. Also, right click on the file, click properties, and make sure "ready only" is not checked.

    Note: When uninstalling, I get the "Removed Shared File?" (no longer being used by any programs) prompt for

    Oc30.dll, in c:\\WINDOWS\System32\
    MICR____.TTF, in WINDOWS\Fonts\
    07_TABLE.FON in WINDOWS\Fonts\
    07_PSWD.FON in WINDOWS\Fonts\
    OLE2DISP.SYM in WINDOWS\System32\
    Dzstat32.ocx in WINDOWS\System32\
    Comdlg32.ocx in WINDOWS\System32\
    Duzocx32.ocx in WINDOWS\system32\
    And a bunch of others.

    I chose Yes to all... but now I'm wondering if that was a mistake.

    Oh well, onwards and upwards. If the c/p does not work, I'll reinstall the program and then to the c/p to where the program is (which is c:\\Tenant Pro

    That shouldn't be a problem:
    Oc30.dll - What is oc30.dll?

    Are you just trying to get something to successfully unzip your files?

    Basically yes. I successfully installed the program, but then I need to its 3 databases, which are backups (to a zip file) from the computer that the program is working on.

    We've used Tenant Pro 6.0 for almost 10 years now.

    I don't know how to answer your question, but I will say this: We do backups and restores twice a week, giving the backup (zip) file to other owners, who have the same program on their computer.

    PS. In the zip file is a data file that is proprietary. Does that help?

    It really doesn't matter what's contained in the zip file - once you can unzip the contained files to another location your problems are solved right?

    I uninstalled Tenant Pro from the new (used) laptop and then copied the Tenant Pro folder from c:\\Tenant Pro.

    The program opens, but I am unable to access any of the data files.

    Now I'll reinstall the program from the disk and then try the c/p again (so that the shared files are back in the other areas)

    Normally, yes. But in this case, with this new laptop, I'm getting the error when I try to restore.

    Bummer:

    I reinstalled the program and then copied the folder from my computer where the program is working... and now I'm back to square 1: I still get the DynaZip UnZIP error when trying to restore a database from the zip file.

    DynaZip UnZIP Error:

    So what should I do next?

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program... then also tried uninstalling and then c/p'ing the files from a computer that works. The restore (zip) file is the same no matter what computer I make it from.

    ... still no resolution.

    Did you reboot and do a ccleaner between un and re installs ?

    Need to make sure it's completely removed before reinstalling it.

    On the computer where the program is working, I can double click on the zip file to see the .df1 file that is in it.

    If I double click on a zip file on this new laptop, I get

    Compressed (zipped) Folders Error
    Access to c:\... etc.ZIP was denied.

    I did not run ccleaner between un and re-installs. I've never had to do that before. We've done this several times in the past 10 years with new computers. Are you really thinking that it has something to do with a "clean" install?

    I got this laptop formatted with only Windows on it and this program is the only one that I've installed on it.

    I've got to leave for the day. I'll be back tomorrow about 7am EST to look for the suggestion that works, so that I can send someone this $75 that is burning a hole in my pocket :)

    NK was able to open my zip file no problem. I knew there was no problem with the zip file itself as I too was able to open it (and use it to restore) on 2 other computers.

    Apparently there is something about the new computer that will not allow the program to restore from a zip file (that contains a .df1 file).

    So I am giving up, and am suggesting to the one that will use this laptop: come to my office, copy the latest .df1 file to a flash drive and take it home and move it into the folder for the program.

    Thank you all for your help.

    Although the problem was not solved, I'm still going to pay. I'll split it between the two that spent the most time in this thread.

    Why don't you just uninstall the non-functioning zip program and install 7-zip? Is it because the database program (Tenant?) has made an association with Dynazip that cannot be broken?

    Not an option. The 4 of us who use the application are on WindowsXP Computers.

    The upgraded application is $800 and it does not work on WindowsXP... so not only would we have to pay the $800 for the upgrade, but we'd need to upgrade 4 computers.

    Not in the budget :(

    DynaZip is the actual background zip application used by M$, so changing it wouldn't really be an option.

    I don't have a zip program on the new laptop (besides what I presume is a part of the computer; DynaZip).

    If the one that will be using this laptop doesn't want to come to my office twice a week to get the update file, then I'll suggest to her that she try another unzip program.

    I'll leave that up to her. I've spent many hours on it already so if she does not like it, she can decide on other avenues of her own.

    Makes the coding easier if it's designed to use the inbuilt rather than digging through the actual file associations and registry ;)

    Our works T&A system will only accept inbuilt defaults rather than "decent" installed applications.
