Ok, so here is the story.
I have been working out and dieting for two months now and only lost 3 pounds.
What's the deal? Is there anything I can do to speed up this process?

Are you exercising?
No, but I'm exercising.Quote:

Maybe you should get some sleep too, you seem a little cranky tonight.
Just wanted to point that out.
I come here seeking advice on weight loss, not sleep. Thank you.

There you go.
Its cold in here!
I know how to diet, and am. I have been for the passed two months. As well as vigorously working out six days a week.
What I want to know is why I have not lost any weight this month.
If you are counting calories and working out that much I couldn't imagine a better way to lose weight. I know my sister would lose pounds one month, sit at another and then drop a noticeable amount later.
At least you are losing weight the right way, I've watched that show "the biggest loser" and I've seen a few of these people starve, exercise and some months come out having lost only 5lbs.
I just now built a home gym and know what it takes to keep going. I would imagine you are frustrated not getting the results you want as fast as you would like. I don't think anyone can give you an idea upgrade here, you are doing more work than any dieter I've known. Guaranteed, if you keep it up you're body will simply have no choice but to reflect the energy you are putting into it.
I've been told that many times. But can't imagine when it's going to happen. I feel like a failure.
As a man, I know that the way to lose weight will be different if you are a woman. At least that is my understanding of it. I once lost over 20 pounds in about a month-and-a-half. But, that was not a good weight loss. I did it primarily though diet. I did not feel good after losing the weight so fast.
I went from about 250 pounds to my high school weight of 183 pounds in a year-and-a-half time. I am still maintaining it. Are you interested in how I did that? Just a thought...
Definitely!! I still have 45 more pounds to lose. Any advice or help would be grand!!
What kind of things are you eating now? Also, I'm just curious as to why you think you need to lose 45 pounds? Are you that overweight?
I'm 165. My goal weight is 120. And I'm consuming tons of fruit and veggies, with some baked chicken in there. Weight control oatmeal or healthy choice ceral in the morning. Some carrot sticks and celery and a water bottle for lunch. Baked chicken and spinach or baked potato for dinner.
Okay. Thanks for letting me know what you are eating as well as how much. You do want to know how I did it, correct? The way that I did it might not be the way that would work the best for everyone, just so you understand, okay? I don't eat very much everyday, and I'm also considerably older than you.
So, what did you do?
And what does age have to do with it? As I understand it, its actually harder to lose weight as you have a few more birthdays..
Age probably doesn't have much to do with it as far as this is concerned with me and you. However, I am more than twice your age. But, as far as how I feel, I might as well be your age.
This is part of what I did. Number one, don't buy any food that is over four grams of fat content. That is one thing that I did.
Do you like Chinese food?
No, I hate chinese food...
And how do you know how old I am.
I don't buy pre-packaged food unless it's like cereal or oatmeal or something like that.
Hiya have you considered that you are probably losing fat but putting on muscle? Muscle weighs more than fat so someties when people start exercising they put on weight. Keep going though because muscle is handy for burning calories so in the long run gaining muscle will help you lose more fat and ultimately weight.
Make sure you are drinking enough water, to prevent you from retaining it. If you are exercising more than you used to you will require more fluids.
You list your age in your profile.
Ok, so you don't like Chinese food. Are you adding anything to the baked chicken or potato? It's also possible that you are eating too much, even though it might be healthy food. Like I have stated before, I don't eat very much everyday.
Also, the kind of workouts that you are doing could be making difference as to how much weight you are losing. When I was actively losing a lot of weight, I was also doing a lot of walking as well as riding a bicycle a lot. So, I would assume that working my legs had something to do with the weight loss.
I don't really know the ins and outs of it or any technical/health language for it. I just know what I did and the results that I obtained. I also was eating a lot of fresh vegetables and rice. Ate almost no cereal and definitely no things that had a lot of sugar in them. No candy or ice cream... (Well, almost no candy or ice cream... )
Chi momma. Not getting enough sleep will interfere with weight loss Or at least that is what I have heard experts say. Also if you are not eating enough food your body will not burn as many calories because it will think you are starving. I also heard a doc, say when there is a drastic reduction in calories that the body can slow down because it is so used to eating a certain amount and it looses to many calories at one time.
Also a great site to go on that is free and may offer you some help in your journey is Sparkspeople.com it is a website for people trying to loose weight. They are not selling or pushing anything but a healthy lifestyle.Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople Good luck

So I do.Quote:

I'm doing an hour of cardio a day, along with tons of upper body strength training.
And I don't eat any bad stuff.

How are things going?
The same really. Still at 161.
I'm growing impatient with my results too. I think you are just building the muscle and will burn the weight soon. How long did it take to put on the extra weight? For me it was 7 months.
50 pounds in 6 months.
I agree that you are probably just building the muscle and will burn the weight soon! It took me many years to go from 183 pounds to nearly 250. It took about a year and a half to get back down to 183. Am now at about 190 pounds and that seems to feel pretty good for me.
UGH! I don't want to wait that long!!
Is it unreasonable that in four months of vigrous exercise to lose 40 pounds?
Good night folks.
That would be incredible!!

I think that after losing just ten pound or even under that amount that you should start to notice a visual as well as feel a difference. It does just take time. If you lose the weight too fast, then you might not feel very good! I don't remember if I told you this earlier on in this thread, but if I didn't, here it is again. I once lost over 20 pounds in a month and a half. But, the result was that I didn't feel good. Losing the weight that I have, gradually over an extended period, I can say that I feel great!Quote:

And why did you not feel great after losing 20 pounds? I WOULD!
I probably did not feel good because in order to lose the weight, I was not eating enough. So, I was starving my body and it was rebelling.Quote:

That's where I want to lose the most weight, that and my face... that's really it.
I seem to be fine with toning up my legs and arms, it's the belly fat and chubby face that I can't seem to get rid of.
