Hello... I need to block the phone number of a pesky incoming call. Does anyone know how to do this with Magic Jack?
This is a million dollar question, I have been trying to figure that out myself. HELP! Obviously, you call click on DO NOT DISTURB, and then you have blocked everyone. Does anyone have the answer for us?
For those users that LIKE MagicJack (count me as a satisfied one year user), I just purchased and downloaded ($12.95) a great utility called MagicBeans (MagicJackBeans.com) that enhances the functionality of the frankly, limited, MagicJack service.
I now have call blocking and have increased my number of rings from the standard 4 to 6 (can go up to infinity – but OMG, how annoying). You can set it to Do Not Disturb and can forward your calls in 3 variables: All; Busy or No Answer.
One really great feature is it will allow you to hard or soft START or REBOOT. Some of the problems that the MJ can encounter are resolved by unplugging and replugging in the unit. This is important for those of us concerned with eventual problems of USB dongle / port failures due to overuse.
There are also some other nifty features that make the MJ pop-up transparent, and it can even block the little advertisements window (woot!).
BTW, since installing I ran a full virus scan and looked at my processes and detect NO virus threats or spyware.
So far, I am LOVING it and highly recommend it to anyone that is comfortable with a bit of computer maintenance!!
I am almost download this at www.magicjackbean.com but my mcafee blocked it and found the virus and removed... actually it a worm so don't bother trying download it
You should try the downloadable Magicfeatures software plugin at http://www.pcphonesoft.com .
The Magicfeatures plugin adds over 20 features to your magicJack including selective call rejection, priority calls only, anonymous call block and do not disturb.
A newer version of MagicBeans is available at www.magicjacksoftware.com. It's clean and the site is much more professional.

You can add dial 77/78 landline style Do Not Disturb activation to your magicJack by installing the Magicfeatures software plugin. The download site is http://www.pcphonesoft.com .
I use "phone tray free" at www.phonetray.com (there's pay version and free version, scroll to bottom for free version). Love it!
You were lucky. I downloaded the software and it messed up my computer. The customer service was not help. The owner was rude.
Can we block phone numbers of pesky people who won't quit calling my phone service is magicjack? I really need to block this person!! Any info would be great. Thanks!!
Sorry I thought that I could ask a question didn't realize it is supposed to be answers to other peoples questions
Thanks
Magicjacksoftware.com is a redirect site, don't bother.
Will MagicBeans or pcphonesoft also work with new MJpus if it is plugged in to the router?
The best way to get rid of an unwanted caller who harassed and never stops calling like.. (that girl or boy you should ve never slept with in the first place, collection agencies).. is like this it never fails... you need to grow balls for about 15 seconds and say this
... "hey...F---K OFF...stop calling me i dont like you...if you persist in harrassing me i will file a harrassment complaint with the police department..CAPICHE..if you call here again..just wait for the squad car in front of your house...it should be arriving in about 15 min....enjoy your incarceration...maybe you being in a cell will make you realise not to call here again"...
I guarantee this approach will be successsfull.
Thank you for the great advice on MagicBeans. I've not had problems with MJ and have used him for a year, also. I have; however, had extreme difficulty with McAfee, where that anti-virus program hails from India and charges over $300 to fix a problem with your system, especially if you fail to continue service. McAfee denies it, but when I told them that I got another anti-virus program, my new program found over 300 viruses, to include trojans and worms that tried to infiltrate my system. The odd thing is that the new program was free and it works great. I purchased the Avast anti-virus program, recently, and could not tell the difference between the free version and the purchased one. I'm sure there are differences, but the Avast program is so good that I have not had system failure or crashes since I downloaded it.
You can try magicfeature, the have a 7 day free trail period.

I solved the MagicJack call blocking 100% successfully, 100% successfully! I "exported" my existing MJ number to GoogleVoice, an outstanding free service, which solved this and five other problems, and then forwarded the same number on GV now back to MJ. All my friends and business associate don't even realize that I changed my path. I still use MJ for the basic service, but the intelligence is with Google. (Unfortunately, I had to firs port the number to a Cell carrier temporarily because Google can't import land-line numbers.
However, if you don't mind having a new number, then it's a lot easier, much MUCH easier, you can start and finish tonight by creating your GV account, forwarding the new and different GV number to your existing MJ number, and then just tell all your friends (Facebook?) that you have a new number, and give them the GV number, not MJ number.
Good Luck!

I "exported" my existing MJ number to GoogleVoice, an outstanding free service by Google, and then forwarded the same number on GV now back to MJ. This switch solved this and five other problems. All my friends and business associates don't even realize that I changed my path. I still use MJ for the basic underline service, but the intelligence is completely with Google. (Unfortunately, I had to first temporarily port the number carefully to a Cell carrier because Google can't import land-line numbers, only cell numbers.) We couldn't publicly lose our existing MJ number, we have too much "invested" in this number.
However, if you don't mind having a new number, then it's a lot easier, much MUCH easier, you can start and finish tonight by creating a new GV account, forwarding the new-and-different GV number to your existing MJ number, keep you existing MJ number, and then just tell all your friends (Facebook?) that you have a new phone number, and give them the GV number, not the MJ number. Note, your existing MJ number is still active, but should be kept "under the hood" (poor blocking, etc.). Old friends might continue to use it initially.
Google software is currently superior by far than MagicJack software, and the gap will continue to increase.
Good Luck.
