I have a Craftsman Lawn Tractor model no. 917.272751. I have put new belts, blades, spark plug, gas filter, air filter, battery, solenoid and 3 new starters. It will not start. If I keep trying to start it burns the starter up. If I hand turn the motor backward a few times it will start right up. Why?

Your question is being moved to lawn and garden.

It sounds like the starter gear is jamming up on the flywheel and binding the starter. I don't know what engine is on this unit, but it could be a valve adjustment if it's an OHV motor.

It sounds like the valves have to be adjusted to the proper clearance.
