    Generator voltage output too low
I have this 10 month old SDMO 6KVA (3.8KW) generator (with Yanmar LE100 diesel engine) which has worked OK until recently. All of a sudden I noticed that the output voltage is nowhere near the rated 230volts. On no load it measures about 210 volts and drops to about 170-180volts when loaded to 0.75 of full load. Anybody got any ideas as to what the problem might be and how I can rectify this. Unfortunately I haven't had much support from the sellers of this product.

With a diesel engine loss of power is usually aclogged or dirty or loose fitting air cleaner element or a plugged fuel filter or water in the fuel. Replace fuel filter element, empty the filter bowl and bleed the air out of the system is the first thing I'd try, or else empty the fuel tank and fill with fresh fuel.

    Hi,
It could be that the generator "head" uses brushes that could be worn or sticking also.
    Peace,
