Looking for answers.
Hi,
I'm 14 years old and looking for answers. There is this girl who lives by my dad's house (parents are divorced) and I have a huge crush on her. I've never asked a girl out before so I am really nervous. I want to know what's a good way to ask her out. Here's where the problem is. My dad and her mom are dating. So, I also want to know if even though our parents are dating if it's still okay to ask her out.

If you ask me 1) You are too young to date. 2) I think since your dad and her mom are dating, you dating her daughter is a very very bad idea even if you were old enough
That's just my opinion. Too young and too close.

I agree there are so many other things to do at 14 like talking on twitter, Facebook, myspace etc. Leave the dating for a few more years and enjoy the youth you currently have.

Uhhhhhhg this is frustrating. I may as well have asked my mom the same question. I would have gotten the same answer. "You're too young."

If you mean dating as in a group of kids going to the movies and things like that then I say I think you should ask your Dad.
Ask him if he thinks its O.K.
She may be prohibited from dating at her age.The parents may feel it is not a good idea because they are dating.
If you both get permission, come back and I 'll give you some ideas about asking a girl out properly.K? :)

I agree with the others.
I think that it would be awkward and slightly weird for you to be dating the daughter of your father's girlfriend.
But, why don't you ask your father. That's what he's there for.

Since your father and her mother are dating it isn't a good idea, she may become family, and family lasts much longer than relationships, especially in high school. And in such a case you may find yourself in a Maeby and George-Micheal situation (see: Arrested Development)

Well think ahead at the what ifs.
Your dad and his girlfriend hit it off real well.. They get married and move in together. Life's good. Pets are good the weather is good and my son is dating my new daughter... Wait... What??
You could be living with your girlfriend at at 14... Hmmm.. Maybe just be friends for now. You never know what the future holds.. Make friends with lots of people. I don't think I dated until 15.. but every child is different I guess.

I know at your age you might think it is cool to have a girlfriend and I am sure most of your friends have one. However what you don't realize is all the emotions that comes along with it.
You have some adults who can't handle a break-up so can you image a teen going through it. You don't need a girlfriend right now but there is no harm in being friends. Friends last longer anymore, well they suppose to but nothing is guarantee.
Relax! Your going have plenty of time for girls and heartache.

I turn 15 in a couple months so it isn't much different than you.

Hi everyone,
I haven't logged on to this site in a while. A lot has changed since I last logged on. Here's the story. My dad is an out doors kind of guy so one weekend we went to Drumheller to go hiking and it's about an hours drive. So the girl I like and I usually text each other in the car while we're driving (even though we are sitting next to each other. On the way back from Drumheller while we were texting each other out of no where she asks me if I have a girl friend. I reply no do you have a boyfriend? She says no. So I take advantage of the opportunity and ask her if she will go out with me and she said yes. Now I have a new question: is there a law against dating your might be step sister? By the way (for all those people worried about what our parents would say) she says that we should tell our parents as soon as possible. So we're working on it.

The two of you were sitting next to each other and was text each other?
If you think it might be a problem then you should ask your dad. See what he said.
Btw, is your father and her mother married? If so, I wouldn't even consider dating her.

No they are not married yet. But she thinks that they might eventually get married so she want to talk to our parents about it asap. I'm not sure about telling our parents because my dad and her mom are dating so if I tell my dad "hey I want to date your girl friends daughter" it's going to be very awkward. And yes we do text in the car sitting next to each other. Just to pass the time.
