What to get a 15 year old boy for his birthday?
... so... this is for the mid-teens.

My brother is turning 15 next week... and I have yet to get him a gift. Actually, I got him a gift, but I want supplements to the gift.

So. What do you get a 15 year old boy?

No budget really... I mean... granted, cheaper is a tad bit better... so let's stick around 100 - 200.

He wants a PSP (hand held game thing)... but seeing as he's 15, I want him to get something actually useful, if that makes any sense.

In the past, I've gotten him:

    Digital camera
    Watch
    Cologne
    New clothes
    iPod... ipod... and more ipods
    Cell phone

    So. Watcha got?

What about a gift card for his fave store? Or just a visa gift card to use anywhere...

... sadly, I already gave him a checking account for christmas... and I regularly put money in it.

What a nice big bro! Is he into sports? CarS? WHat?
  • Aug 1, 2008, 10:06 PM
    ISneezeFunny
    Yeah he likes cars...

... get him a car?. hmmm...

He's not THAT into sports... he had a phase where he liked basketball a lot, so I bought him one of those driveway-basketball hoops... but that phase died out quickly.

Oh, and I'm not a nice big bro. I just spoil the sucker.

oh, and I'm not a nice big bro. I just spoil the sucker.--that makes you a good brother.

Perhaps a replica RC car of his fave?

Hm. Do 15 year old kids still play with toys nowadays?

... hmm... RC car... I'll write that one down as a possibility. Better than my current list.

I'm only 16, so I don't think things have changed within a year. But Considering you go him so much stuff I would say money? For some reason people hate giving money, but I and all my friends think it's the best gift ever. I can get what I want when I want. But if you don't want to do that, then I would suggest the psp like you mentioned. Its an iPod, movie player, game player, computer all in one! You can go on the internet, use skype, and more.

I don't no how often he goes to the movies, but you could also maybe get him a gift card to the movies? I got a lot so that would be awsome for me.

Or maybe new clothes, I love getting clothes as most teens do.

These are what I would want so hopefully it helps

    Ooh, thanks sgt.

As far as money goes, I got him a checking account with a debit card and I deposit money in it every 2 - 3 weeks.

I just took him shopping 2 weeks ago... and bought him quite a bit of clothes.

::sigh::... perhaps the psp is the way to go?

Car - he's getting my 2003 acura rsx next year.

College - already have a college fund started.

Savings - I have a savings account saved for him that I'll give him when he turns 18.

If he's into music at all, you might want to get him a small, inexpensive keyboard with a bunch of gadgets on it. Most kids that I know of, really enjoy messing around with such things. Could lead to bigger and better things for him later musically!

If he might be into science at all, then how about a chemistry set?

    Just making some guesses here...

Why not get a bunch of his friends together and all go paint balling? Do something physical that you will all remember forever.

Paint balling sounds like a lot of fun!

Also, at 15 years old, maybe there is some kind of food that he might especially like? So, there's also the possibility of taking him out to a fancy restaurant to experience something that he might not already have experienced.

I just think that a memory will last longer than a item and probably be a lot more apreciated there are so many options like go carting etc just make it a day to remember :D

PAINTBALLING!. what an awesome idea?! Yes. Beautiful. I think I'll get on that.

Paintball is great, my daughter went with camp and she is just raving about how much fun it was. It is something that I would have never thought of doing for her. Btw she is almost 15.

If u need any tips on what guns to get or what sites/stores to go too, I would love to help.

I can tell you what to upgrade it with and such

    Money??

If you don't know what to get, give him a card with say 20-30 dollars (or what ever currency) in it so he can spend it on what he wants :) that what my mum and dad got me for my 15th bk in April :)
  • Aug 2, 2008, 03:14 PM
    ISneezeFunny
:) thanks macky. Money's already been given... and I give him money every two - three weeks anyway.

I called around... closest paintball field is 45 min away.. . hmmm

A gift should say, "I care about you" or "I like you". Don't give him a gift card. All that says is that you're too lazy or uncaring to take the time to consider what he really wants. I noticed that all of your previous gifts and gift ideas are things that don't really exercise his mind or body. They're mostly materialistic time-wasters that will keep his back-side firmly planted in a chair. It seems like you really love your brother (I wish I had a brother that gave me all that cool loot!). If he's only 15, then there must be a million things out there that he doesn't know about. Rather than giving him something that he'll enjoy for a couple month then throw under his bed when he's sick of it, give him something that will last. How about a musical instrument? How about a nice tent so he can go camping in the great outdoors. That's the kind of stuff he can use for a long time :-)

I just read the posts about paintballing.

For my 15th birthday my brother bought me a paintball gun I loveeee it

The sports so much fun especially when your a little angry ahahah

Well, when it came down to it, I realized that paintballing would be too... uneconomical. Closest paintballing place is 45 min away... finding two other parents that want to drive them, etc. just wasn't going to happen.

... so... I got him a new laptop, and will be buying dinner for 3 - 4 of his closest friends. Thanks everyone!

How are you a grad student and THAT RICH?!

Sheesh... I always knew Asians were rich lol

Instead of Paintball, You could have done Airsoft. Same conecpt but instead of paintball their air pellets. Hurts like hell though haha

Sides, You don't even need a field for it, Just a nice couple acres of forest
  • Aug 3, 2008, 04:26 PM
    ISneezeFunny
    HAH. Not rich. I wish.

Airsoft... hmm... well, we're in Atlanta... so an asian kid running around the street with something that resembles a gun... wouldn't be the best thing in the world.

I'm sure he'll be OK with the lappy.
