    smoothdrew
Im 43 male, I have been smooth down below for about 5 years now, The first time I shaved was b-4 my vasectomy. The Dr couldn't believe when he started to prep, & saw me totally shaved. I kept shaving for a couple of years, then my wife sugessted I wax as it would last longer. Now I wax every 6-8 weeks. It stays smooth much longer, after about a month it starts growing back in, then I can't wait ntil the next time I wax it off. I prefer waxing because it is totally smooth for a couple of weeks. Shaving would give me stubble daily, and I would have to shave every 2-3 days. Oh, I still shave my shaft & Balls, as it hurts when ripping the hair form those areas.

    Length ?
Well, an Inch is OK, not too long, the idea of really long pubic hair, the smell of bacteria from sweat that would collect there. Yuck! But isn't that the reason for the hair in the first place, to make a smell that the opposite sex find attractive?
Even half an inch is quite tidy I guess. But I imagine that shorter than that and your looking at it being irritating to your partners lol.

    Shaving burn
Hi SWW, in my experience, I never had any problems with shaving burns.
Some people are more sensitive than others, saying that, there are some tricks of the trade.
Have a bath and soak for 10 minutes ( after 3-4 times you'll find that you can do it without a bath, and do it in the shower)
Use KY Lubricant instead of soap. (Much smoother and closer, less dry)
A fresh razor (with the grain then against)
Use a moisturiser or oil afterwards to stop dry skin. (oil is better as it holds moisture in)
Shave every other day, and if you keep to that the hairs don't get long enough to irritate.
After a couple of weeks, the little red spots go away, and your skin gets use to it. The red spots are hairs just growing under the skin, for some reason this stops after a couple of weeks. I guess the skin hardens a little to the shaving. You might want to leave it 4 days between each shave at first, just to help the skin get use to it.
Shaving your balls is easy if the sack is warm and stretchy, not tight and hard. Also it's quite difficult to get every hair the first time, after a couple of shaves you should have done them all.
    I hope this helps! : )

So when you say to soak for 10 min what does that mean? Soak before I shave or what? And what do you mean by the soap and KY? Is that instead of shaving gel? And the razor, I tried going against the grain and it killed, I cut myself, so do you mean do just go with the grain right above the shaft and against it on it? Sorry for all the questions, it's just really irritating.

    Sww
First soak in a hot bath for at least 10 minutes before shave.
Don't use Soap, as it will dry the skin.
Use KY jelly or alternative, much better than gel. Gel is really liquified soap.
Shave in the direction that suits you. Usually against will give a closer shave, but can remove a thin bit of skin as the hairs will be pulled closer to the blade. This does give a slight soar feeling when doing so, as it's pulling the hair slightly out of the skin. You will get use to it.
    Promise.

What would be a good alternative? Because I don't have any KY.

    Acne
I've also been noticing that I've been getting acne right above my shaft and very few, but some on the lower part of my shaft, is this normal and will it go away?

    Me and my boyfriend
    I am Emma,
:) I have been shaving now for about a month. I have been with my boyfriend for a month and a half, just as we was getting upto rude things, *as you do hehe* I noticed he was shaved, no I didn't think it was gross or sick or anything like that, I found it to be very nice, especially since he does it every night and it is very smooth, whilst giving him oral I do not recieve a mouth full of pubic hair either, I find it to be very sexy :D, very sexy indeed. It is cleaner and yes it is easiar for masterbating :).

So that's my opinion on it, and oh by the way it stops itching :D, like I said I have been shaving for a month and I haven't itched for 3 weeks.

Do you know what would be a good alternative to shave with rather then KY?

Hi SWW, The acne thing sounds bad, unless you mean reddish pimples. This is just hair growing under the skin. However, if its spots/acne you have on your Penis, I might consider a trip to the Doctor, just to be safe.
What could be happening is sweat is making the bare skin soft and sore. Try Talc or even stick type deodorant after shaving. If you can't get hold of KY jelly, (Water based Glycerine lubricant) Try hair conditioner, I've heard that works well too. Different people prefer different techniques. Look on the internet, there's lots of sites about this subject as it's very popular and growing all the time.
You have to give it time, and don't expect to have porn smoothie in the first week either. Your skill and technique will improve in time, if you have the desire to keep up with it. I haven't for a long time so wouldn't expect a spotless skin the first time. I think it gets better each time you do it though.

    Emma
Hi Emma, was the reason you shave your pubic hair because your Boyfriend does, as it seems to coinside with dating him?
Or was it something you did without each other knowing?
And if you both didn't know, why do you think you did it?

For guys I think it's a tightrope if your single anyway.
There seems to be two sides to it. 50% of girls like it shaven or a very short trim, and the other can't stand it.
Women on the other hand are around 75% shaven and few prehaps only 10-15% with long Pubic hair. And lets face it, Very few Men hate shaven women.

What was your perception of Shaven men before you found out your boyfriend was a smoothie. : ) and have you ever spoken on the subject to other women about it. What do your friends think?

Sorry lots n lots of questions...

    Hey
Hey, thanks for replying, no I didn't shave because my boyfriend does, I got the idea to start shaving again because my ex boyfriend told me not to get showers everyday ( I was paronoid about what people thought of me) and my ex was pretty controlling mostly the reason why it ended after a year and four months I couldn't put up with it anymore, and with me being me I started to get laid back and stopped shaving and stuff, I got really laid back, and then I met Rich my boyfriend and decided that I had a reason to be on top of myself again, so here I am now.

If people had have asked me what I thought about it before I got with Rich (About guys shaving) I would not have blinked an eyelid, Im too much of an open minded person, my ex had a "bush" and I wasn't really too keen on it as it was not very nice but now I am with my boyfriend I love it!

    :D

Hi Emma, your X sounds like a weird control freak! Better you're out of that.

So you shaved before then, and Rich give you a reason to be on top, Good for you.
"Self love is not vile a sin as self neglect" W Shakespeare.

Being Laid back is perhaps what I'm doing at the moment or was, as I had no real concern with meeting a women. But recently I've started to dress better, get my hair cut (Head). And I guess grooming your Pubic area is like any other part of you, tidying your appearance for others as well as yourself. Pride and respect for yourself.

    Shaving
    Hi,
One very important thing to remember about shaving ANYWHERE on your body is this:
The more you shave, the tougher the hairs!
The more you shave your face and chin, the tougher the hairs become, and become much more "stickly" and strong.
So, keep that in mind. If you keep shaving your pubic hairs, it won't be long before you will have to shave them all the time!! Otherwise, no one will be able to touch you!
    Best of luck,
    fredg
