Well that was a nice debate, and you can feel anyway you want but at 13, mature or not the parents have the last say in the matter, and if you are mature enough to know if your in love or not, then your mature enough to know, as a parent, it ain't going to happen, and going behind my back, will get you in deep do-do, with me. Argue with your friends, and debate all you want, not with me though. Love will be the last thing on your mind and if that 16 year old shows up, me and his parents will have a talk. You know the rules, so don't think I will let you be influenced by a disrespectful, unsupervised smart mouth brat. That's the bottom line.

I think age is just a number and you can when I was 13 I went out with a 17 but he was only after 1 think you proply know what

That is why age is not just a number. There are maturity factors to consider and there are things young impressionable children should not be doing.
As a parent, there was no way my 13 year old daughter (probably not even in High School yet) would have been dating, let a lone a 17 year old. (probably about ready to be out of HS) That is insane.

I think its up to the two people who love each other, I think that u are OK to date her. =] it doesn't matter the age I think, unless u are 10 and u are in love with a 40 yr old, thts wrong lol

Age matters under the law and it matters as far as parental consent is concerned. Minors don't think it matters, but then again that is why minors have parents. There are just some decisions they have no business making.

Why is age a matter at 10, but then not at 13, the issue is that is a matter, at 13 few if any are mature enough to understand emotions and relationships fully, But they will think they do, and that is the real problem, they do not know they don't know.

That is why it is a parents responsibility to control their children from such destrustive behavior.

In the future, please read through the responses and check the dates, before responding. The OP made ONE post almost 2 months ago. Its unlikely they have read any of the responses. Your post just rehashes points that have been made elsewhere in this thread. Yes age DOES matter when one is 10 and the other is 40. The reason is because, when one or both partys is a minor, then legal, parental and maturity issues come into play. Which is what so many other responses have already said.

Just so anyone continuing to post responses is aware, djmidnight's last activity on this site was on November 3, 2007 at 11:59 P.M.
