It means you will be really good if you stick with it. Don't be a quitter. Then every time you don't like something or feel bored or stressed, you will want to quit, and that's no good.

Do you have any good tips on practicing fast but good? I have a busy schedule but I'm supposed to practice every day

What else do you have to do?

If I were you, I would set aside one hour per day to practice piano.

Definitely do not be a quitter. One thing I learned in life is when you don't really want to deal with something take it as a challenge, conquer it and then make it your own. Learn your lesson and think what can I do with what I learned. Next thing you know you could be a great composer

    Wondergirl, you're a wonder.

I sure hope Anna takes your advice and carries on regardless. I have a suspicion she's at a fork in the road and she will do the right thing.

There is no "fast" way to practice, good practice takes time and more time. Also some people learn faster than others. I took lessons for over 12 years, in latter years from some of the best teachers in area. There were points in my childhood, I hated to play, but when you are older you will be glad they made you keep going. It will be worth it.

Not every teacher or teaching style is right for every student, that is something that parent, child and teacher have to decide

The patience and discipline, and coping skills that's needed to learning to play the piano now will be a great help to you in many ways as you get older. You will need those skills later in other areas of life so see these practice sessions on the piano now as a key to opening doors of opportunities later.

Exactly -- and like I said earlier, if she quits this, it will be easier to quit the next time she doesn't want to put the effort into something and that will make it even easier to quit the next thing, and so on.

You're very welcome, Annabeth. And Happy 4th to you too. (I will be thinking of you -- and tap-tap-tapping).
