    It goes like this, and it's a very common song..

    Dum dum dum da dee dee dum dum dum da dee dee dum

    **Thats the main verse basically** it's a very popular hit and believed to be a oldie.

    Do you have any lyrics from the song? Do you know ANYTHING else about it? Maybe some TV commercials or movies it was in...

    Paul, not sure if you got confused but "Dum dum dum da dee dee dum dum dum da dee dee dum" is actually the words/verse of the song its not the beat or melody. Those are the words.

    Maybe that will strike a clue heh hopefully you were thinking that was the hum/melody/beat

    Oh OK then, yea I thought it was the beat/melody... hmm.. I'll look into it.

    Im not sure, but singing that verse in my head I think of Stand By Me, the movie..

    Although the more I think about it the more it doesn't match up.

    Well I typed in 'dum dum dum' for song lyrics, but got a rather large result.(49)

    Here is the link, maybe these will help you;

    It kind of sounds like the intro to "only the lonly" by Roy Orbison to me.

    Tom's Diner, by Suzanne Vega maybe?

    That doesn't QUITE fit... unfortunately, I now have "the Imperial March" stuck in my head (which fits the rhythm of that) and I can't get rid of it to see if anything else works.

    Kind of sounds like the beginning of Neil Sedaka's song, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do.

    Hey my friend, try any lyrics website or search "lyrics" on any engine as well as just searching the specific lyrics themselves in the engine or on something like limewire as well. Many results that match will come up with those lyrics but it helps you get closer to finding the artist and song name. Many other people have the same problem and will often POST a song under the name of the chorus or most popular line or repeated line in the song ex: Metallica's "Enter Sandman" can be found by searching the words "exit light enter night take my hand" on any search or download engine - hope it helps - BMAC

    Sounds a bit like Eiffel 65 - Blue. Not an oldie, but at my age you could class it as one haha.
