My husband received a summons from a creditor. It said we have 20 days to respond. I don't know how to respond. Do I have to go to the courthouse or what do I do?

Usually the big guys we owe money to don't come after us personally. They sell it to a collection agency. Write them back and ask them for details. Look closely at the paperwork to make absolutely sure it is an authentic summons; did you have to sign for it? If it came through the mail it could be on of the first scare tactics.
It was served to us by a deputy. The creditor is citibank. I don't know what I need to do to respond.
The summons should list a court that issued it. You file an Intent to Defend with the court and send a copy to the creditor.
