I had a small real estate renovation business. I received cash from a bank to do the renovations and when the house market turned I could not sell the properties I had renovated so I could not pay back the credit card debt. I am being sued by one bank card and I need to answer the citation. First I want to know if the judgement will be put on my personal credit. Next will the bank card company put a lien on my home where I live.
Last once I tell the bank why I have not been able to pay will they leave me alone. What will happen to my credit.

1. Tell the bank why you can't pay them, if they don't laugh at you and still bill you, they will still just want to know when they will get paid.

2. if the credit cards were personal cards, yes they can put this on your personal credit and yes if they can not garnish your bank accounts, or garnish your wages, they can put a lien on your properties.

If you had a LLC or other corportion set up and all of the credit cards were by the company only and no personal guarantee, they they may come after the homes you worked on and all of your business property.

But they will not just leave you alone unless you pay or work out a payment plan with them

In addition to the fine answer above, I just want to add that I did work out a payment plan on a couple of credit cards where I had two cards with the same company. It wasn't hard. We just worked out something that I could afford that is automatically deducted from my checking account each month. All of that happened over the phone. I made sure that I had a witness on the other line as to what was happening and informed the credit card representative that I did have another person on the line.
