I always liked coverup sticks with salicylic acid in them as they'd hide the problem and disinfect it at the same time. I still use it today, you can put it under normal foundation or if it's a good match to your skin tone just on its own.

Foundation might not be such a great idea as it will block your pores - if you use it make sure it is a non oil based and non moisturising one. I think nivea do a special range with salicylic acid in. That range has a slightly green foundation as well which helps get rid of the redness. I used to sell that in Boots (UK) when I worked there a few years ago - so try a pharmacy for it or something similar.

I can also suggest perhaps you have been using washes that are too harsh - I found that used to aggrevate my skin further. But everyone is different and sometime trial and error is the only way. Make sure you give them a couple a weeks to work before you swap because sometime your skin can take some getting used to a new product and might get worse before it gets better.

Um... my last suggestion for really vicious spots is any product containing benzoyl peroxide. It's really harsh on your skin so only use it on the bad ones- and don't get it on your clothes!!

How do I know this? I used to be a spotty teenager too - don't worry you will grow out of it. Also people won't laugh at you - they will probably be too busy hoping you haven't noticed their spots too.

I'll leave the makeup tips to someone else as I don't really wear that much. Sometimes a bit of mascara and lip balm can look a lot better - and more grown up than layers of makeup (especially if badly applied)

Let me know if you find that concealer/ how you get on. I have a few other tips but I think this post is getting a wee bit long - I'm sure other posters will mention some other good things.

Using good oil free products is a must for oily, troubled skin. You might try one of the mineral powder based foundations that are so popular right now. I use the Loreal one, and I've had great success with it. Another thing is, remember to wash your makeup brushes out regularly as they can harbor germs and bacteria that can cause skin breakouts. If you feel like you have tried everything and have had no success, then maybe you should see a dermatologist for some further treatments.

As far as makeup goes, if you are having trouble applying the products, then make an appointment with one of the cosmetic counters at the mall. Even if you can't really afford all their products, they will give you their time. They are trained to teach people how to apply makeup for their skin types and specific features. Mary Kay, Arbonne, Avon are some other alternatives that might be more afordable. Fashion magazines also offer great tips for achieving certain looks. Don't give up, it just takes practice and patience.
