    Joseph & Mary
What happened to Joseph, the husband of Mary the mother of Jesus Christ after the death of Christ? Did his wife Mary go back to him?

It is "assumed" that he had long ago died. The reason for his, is that Jesus on the cross made arrangements to giving her to one of his followers as his mother. This would not have been needed, if Joseph was still alive or even if Jesus had another brother by Mary.

Again it is "assumed" and normally accepted in tradition that Joseph was a much older man then Mary and may have died before Jesus even started his ministry but after Jesus was old enough to support Mary his mother.

As noted, no where does it ever show or say Mary "left" Joseph. She was present at a few of his events,

I remember reading a story that has traditionally held that Joseph died of old age somewhere around 15 to 20 A.D. Then was buried in Nazareth. Remember, this is not Biblical, just a story passed down.

Yes, we have to look close at their customs and traditions at the time.

We know that there is a mention of Jesus "brothers and sisters" when he is doing his ministry. But if that was the case, and they were Marys, then at the cross Jesus would not have had to give his mother to someone to take care of her, since she would have went with the next oldest son.

So by looking at customs and traditions it would look like Joseph was a widower with other chilcren. It would be very common for a widower to have a new arranged marriage with a much younger girl.

Mary was not the mother of God, God is a supernatural being, We and Mary are just humanbeings. Jesus only borrowed Mary's womb.

Mary never left Joseph. Where did that idea come from? When he found out that Mary was with child, we were about to "put her away" or give her a bill of divorcement until the angel, Gabriel, explained that she was impregnated immaculately by the Holy Spirit. In other words, she was impregnated without any sexual contact but rather as a result of a miracle from God. Joseph stayed with Mary throughout her pregnancy and traveled with her to Jerusalem where she gave birth to Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Since the New Testament is centered around Jesus Christ, there is not too much mention concerning what happened to Joseph in subsequent years.

I meant to say in my "rating" of this post that Mary was the mother of Jesus Christ the man... not Mother was the mother of Jesus Christ. That wouldn't make much sense.

Scripture also mentions that Jesus was not accepted by those of his own hometown. It could be that Mary's other children (Christ's half brothers and sisters) rejected her because she accepted Him. It could be that as He was dying on the cross, none of His siblings were anywhere around so Jesus turned her over to the care of someone He trusted and to someone who was present.
