Do we just get to pick one? Lol. It would be Americana - American folk music - artists like Woody Guthrie, Cisco Houston, etc.

Cool, I've heard of folk music but didn't realise there was a specific Americana swing to it. :)
What's it like?

Americana is a broad term in American roots music, that ranges in style from folk, country blues, bluegrass, rockabilly, and other styles. You can go back to the Depression era (that is my personal favorite) and you can hear that style in this generation also.
Americana shows up on public radio shows and on this stations like this one, Radio Free Americana -

I don't really like it all but I like certain songs from all music! I love to sing and dance (mind you I am no good at either one) I look like a fool in the car! Anyway, I love anything from, Crystal Gayle to Kid Rock.

I know that I am going to sound like the "odd man out", but my personal preference would be string quartets of either Schubert or Beethoven. Have had lots of experience with music from being a professional musician and music teacher for years.
But, you did ask about a person's preferred genre of music. I could elaborate, but I think that I have answered your question.

Just so people know, this thead as now old and archived and so not generally visible unless someone happens to visit the forum topic area where it is.
If you have a separae question that's not in some way an answer to the very first question at the top of the page, I would suggest the you start an new thread with the new question so that it will get recognized as being your own question.
Thanks!
